It had been a couple of hours since the intruder had made an appearance and they were all on edge. Tasha and Jax sat and tried to come up with a game plan while Happy and Tig took the intruder to the warehouse to find out whatever they could from him.
Jax paced the floor in the chapel as they went over the events from earlier that morning. "How in the hell can this happen with everyone around?" he asked, running a hand through his hair.
Bobby watched as Jax tried to stay calm. Knowing how easy it was for their president to become unhinged when his family was put in the path of danger. "Everything will work out Jax." he said, trying to comfort the younger man. "Hap will get what we need."
Jax nodded and looked out the window that lead into the main room of the clubhouse and saw his sister sitting at the bar with Juice beside her, both doing their thing on their laptops. "I never would have thought she would find herself in this much shit before." he admitted. "She's the smart one. The one who thinks before she acts."
Bobby scoffed and leaned back in his seat. "She's also a Teller, Jax. She's stronger than what you give her credit for." he reminded him.
Jax nodded in agreement and sighed as he hung his head. "When she was laying on that floor, bleeding out, the only thing running through my head was someone else I loved was dying and I couldn't help her. I can't lose anyone else, Bobby."
Tasha was focused on the screen in front of her when she heard Jax's voice come from beside her as he sat. "Unser's on his way. You doin alright?"
"I'm fine Jax." she reassure him. "I'll be even better once all this shit is dealt with." her concentration on the task at hand was all too consuming.
Jax let out a huff, "Tash, you were shot like a week ago. You're not fine."
Tasha closed her eyes, trying to reign in the anger that was slowly trying to creep up. "Jackson, I love you and I'm happy that you and the guys are here to help me. But you need to understand one thing. I'm not fifteen years old anymore."
Jax ran a hand over his face in frustration. "I know you're not. But you're still my little sister and I'll be damned if I'm gonna let anything else happen to you." he said as he looked at her. His eyes showing the lost boy she knew just after their father had died. "I know the first priority is getting that son of a bitch, but you need to slow down and take care of yourself."
"I'll go and relax in the dorm." she said as she got up and grabbed her laptop.
"Leave it here." he said as he raised a brow at her. She rolled her eyes at her brother and he smirked as she sulked away.
Just as she was about to disappear down the hallway she yelled out to him. "Like I said, you're just like mom."
He scowled at her back and shook his head. "Fuck you!" he yelled back at her. Seconds later he hear her laughter and smirked to himself.
As she laid in the bed staring at the ceiling, her mind kept running over what happened that morning. She would never admit it, but she was terrified. They came that close from getting her again. She couldn't remember a time where she actually felt like her time was up, until now and that thought terrified her.
Why the hell would Hale send that Henchman after her? He knew they wanted Lowen. Maybe it was the fact she was in too deep with the Sons. Whatever the reason, she knew that it would only be a matter of time before shit was really going to hit the fan and she would show Lowen that he messed with the wrong family.
Meanwhile, at the warehouse, Happy was circling the intruder. He was calculating this kill. From the way he was going to get his information, to how he was finally going to kill him. The intruder watched as Happy meticulously laid out all of his tools out onto the table.
Happy turned to the gagged and bloody man who was bound to a chair. He rolled the hammer in his gloved hand, as he made his way over to him. He smiled wickedly as he spoke. "You know what's going to happen to you don't you?" he asked. When the man blinked in fear, Happy got in his face. "You're going to tell me everything you know. Then I'm going to kill you."
He removed the gag as he watched the man's eyes. He knew he was going to sing like a bird. This man was weak. He showed that at the clubhouse. A little bit of pain and he had already started to talk. He was almost disappointed. "Why did Hale send you for the girl?" he growled.
At the man's reluctance to speak, Happy took the hammer and slammed it down onto the man's bullet wound from earlier that day. His eyes twinkled at the blood curdling scream that came from his victim. He raised the hammer again ready to connect with his other knee when the man began to speak.
"She knows too much." he began to explain. "After you left yesterday he called Lower back and told him everything. Lowen told him to handle it."
Happy's brow knitted once he heard the information. "Why would Lowen want her dead?" he asked.
"She knows too much." he said again, exasperated. "Hale was to take her out and sent me to do it. Lowen assured Hale that he would take care of the Sons."
Happy's eyes turned cold as his body tensed. "That meet today is a set up?"
The guy nodded, "Lowen has an army behind him. Hale knew that the Sons were going to back the girl up, so he made the deal with Hale. He said he wanted the honor of bringing down SAMCRO."
Happy felt he had gotten enough out of the guy and moved back to the table and grabbed his Kbar. Stood there silent for a moment before he turned to the guy and got close to him again, taking the man's face in his hand, forcing him to look at him. "That girl you were sent to kill; she's my old lady. You fucked with the wrong girl." he growled as he drove the knife into the guys chest, twisting as he drove it deep. He watched as the life left the guys eyes and stood up, reveling in what he had just done.
He called Tig in from outside to help clean up. After they loaded the body into the van, Happy took out his phone and made a call to Jax. He gave him instructions to head up to the cabin. "Make sure you're not followed. Clubhouse isn't safe." he said before hanging up, jumping into the van and heading out to Chigger Woods to get rid of the body.
"Why are we going to the cabin?" she asked as they headed out of the clubhouse towards the row of motorcycles.
Jax shook his head and handed her a helmet, "I'm not sure, but Hap said the clubhouse wasn't safe anymore." he noticed the look on her face and made her look at him. "You're safe. I'm not gonna let anything else happen to you."
She nodded and carefully got on the back of his bike. "Let's go. The faster we get there, the better. After all this is over, I'm gonna need a goddamn vacation!"
They headed out to the cabin, breaking almost every traffic law known to man. With Jax's speeding, they had managed to beat Happy and Tig. Jax ushered her into the cabin with Chibs and Bobby on his heels.
"Holy shit, it's like walking through time in here." she laughed as she took everything in. Nothing had changed from when they were kids. She stopped when she came across a photo of her, Jax, and Opie when they were kids, standing in the creek that ran behind the cabin. She smiled as she took everything in. She looked up to Jax and smiled as she handed him the picture.
"I remember that day." he said with a chuckle. "First time I ever saw him scared."
She laughed at the memory. "If memory serves me correct, you were just as scared." She sat down on the old couch and let out a sigh. "I miss this place."
"How long has it been since you've been up here?" he asked as he sat with her.
"Lost count of how many years." she admitted. "Never felt right after dad died." She was flooded by memories of when they were kids, running around the cabin while their fathers talked club business. They had made it a habit to get them out of the city during the summer and to give their wives a break. That all seemed to change, once things got intense with the club.
She craned her neck towards the door when she heard gravel on the driveway and Tig
cursing as he tripped up the steps trying to keep up with Happy. Once inside, Happy filled them in on everything that their visitor had gave them. "Pres, we can't go to that meet. It's a trap."
