Once home I head straight to my room. Someone knocks at my door, I assumed it was Ms. Eagle so I said come in. To my disappointment it was Jake. Once in my room he shut the door then locked it.
"We need to talk." He commands. I've never seen him so serious. I thought to myself. "What do you want." I growl. "I went to the store today, and when I left you know what smelled?" Jake's tone was serious and angered at the same time. His green eyes seemed to be lite with fire like anger.
"What?" He must of smelled Elija on me. "I smelled a vampire, not just on the trail, but on you too." Nia's and Saga's hate vampires as they do to us. "I didn't know." I lie. "Bull, you must of noticed Sina!" Jake shouts. "Forget it! I won't tell Ms. Eagle if..." I knew this might happen.
"You stay away from that vampire." He orders. "I can't promise you, because me and him attend the same school." I finally tell the truth. "Then don't talk to him." I sigh. "Don't worry I won't." I assure him.
"I'm sorry Sina." He says before taking his leave.
In the middle of the night I find myself beating the punching bag in the training room. The only thing going through my is Elija.
Why did he attack me? Why did he stick up for me? Why did he say he kept thinking about me? With one powerful punch my hand goes right through the bag.
Why was Jake so angry? It's not like him to flip like that. He's usually the happy joker guy around here. "Ms. Sinaria?" I turn to look behind me. It was a little girl. "Yes?" Her little hazel nut eyes lit up at my response.
"You look just as cool as Jake said!" She cheers. I never really have a chance to talk to the little ones, but it seems Jake talks good of me. "Shouldn't you be in bed?" I ask. "Oh! Yes ma'am!" With that she rushes off.
Feeling somewhat relaxed I decide to head back to my room to catch some shut eye.
The next day I head to school, and I run into Katie. "Oh my gosh! Sinagona!" Katie calls out bouncing with joy. "What is it?" I ask. "Guess what's in two months." She bites her bottom lip waiting for my answer.
I give it some thought and only come up with one solution. "A test?" Katie frowns. "No silly! Prom!" She squeals. "I'm not going." I tell her. "What? No way." From what I've learned about Katie these past couple days is that she's a very kind girl. She tends to hang around me a lot. I guess she considers me a friend.
"If you don't mind me asking." I start off. "Go ahead." She urges me on. "Do you have any friends?" I know my question may have came off as rude, but it was something that was bothering me; aside from Elija.
"No, not really b-but I kinda count you as one." It's sad she doesn't have any, but it's heartwarming to know she considers me as one. "Me too." Her face lights up in joy. "So does this mean we're friends!" I nod. I know I don't know her well, but she hasn't given me any reason to dislike her.
"Will you eat lunch with me for now on! I m-mean if you want to." A small chuckle erupts from my throat. "Yes, I would love too." She jumps in joy.
Seeing humans happy was always something that brought pleasure to my life. The main priority of a Nia and Saga is to protect humanity. I will insure the safety of all humanity.
When seeing them happy makes me know that our job is being done. "So Sinagona..." Katie starts. Her eyes bear a mischievous look. "Rumor has it that you hang around Elija." Katie spills.
I twitch my eyebrow in irritation. "Sorry, but what you've heard is wrong." I state. It's partially true, because I have talked to him a couple of times. "Damn." Katie says in disappointment.
As Katie shows her disappointment someone wraps their arm around my shoulder. "What are you talking about Sina, we're good friends." Elija! Does he do this to piss me off, because it's working. "You two are friends." Katie's eyes are filled with admiration.
"You two even have nick names for each other." Katie states while holding back a squeal. "No-Yes," we both say our answers at the same time. "I call her Sina all the time." He announces in a cheery voice. "Hey Katie, could you head to class; him and I need to talk." I ask. "Oh! Take all the time you need." Katie skips away humming an unknown tone.
Now to give this arse a piece of my mind. "What was that?" I turn to face him; my rage was clear to see. "I'm here to propose something to you." I gave him a questionable look. "What?" I ask curiosity. "When we had fought you kept complaining about me being stronger than you." I nod in agreement. What is he getting at. "Maybe, I could train you." He smirks knowing he's pinged my interest.
Wait, I can't! I promised Jake I wouldn't talk to this idiot! But this is a perfect opportunity to learn how to beat those monsters without to much of a struggle. "I like your offer, but what's the catch?" I ask. "Nothing." I stare at him for a moment before giving him his answer. "I'd like that, but on one condition." I hold his gaze. "You will not tell anybody about this." I hold out my hand. He gladly shakes it. "Deal." He says with a cherry smile. "At lunch?" I think for a moment. "Okay." I agree. Lunch and after school are our only times to train. Me coming home late will look suspicious to Jake, so lunch is my best choice.
A bit of time passes until it's lunch time. Taking a lucky guess I head outside to see if Elija's waiting there for me. I spot him in the shade of the trees, relaxing. I head over to him.
Is he asleep? I crotch down to his level. He looks so peaceful. It's a weird thought since vampires are murderous monsters. "You enjoying the view, cupcake." Elija says. It startles me, causing me to fall backwards. "Don't call me that." I hiss
"You are as dump as ever." I say in a defensive tone. "You ready to train?" He asks holding a hand out. I take and he helps me up. "What are we starting with?" I ask. "Let's see what you're defense looks like." He suggests. "Alright." I stand perfectly still.
Elija charges towards me. He throws a punch at me. I dodge it instantly. He continues this, and I keep dodging. Luckily for me I was able to doge all his punches. "How about I do it in vamp speed." He smirks. I can do fast, but I've never delt with vampire speed.
"Let's try." I urge him on. In a blink of an eye he lands a punch causing me to fly. "You okay, cupcake?" He asks. Genuine concern laces his voice. "Yeah." Elija helps me up. "Maybe we should stop-No!" I go against his idea.
"We still have twenty minutes left." I plea. "I won't learn how to fight vampires if I don't learn from my mistakes; even if that means getting some bruises." I state strongly. "Don't show me mercy." Elija looked unsure, but he got ready to throw another punch.
This time he went at a slower speed, but it was still inhumanely fast. "So tell me, why did you agree to train with me?" He asked with a smirk. "Has cupcake fallen for me." He jokes. "My job is to protect humanity, and learning how to beat vampires will help me accomplish that." I tell him the full truth.
"Why do you want to protect humans?" He asks another question. "Not only is it what I was born to do, but it's that path my heart chose." I answer with my heart. "Okay, here's another." He puts his fists down. "What are vampires to you?" His gaze didn't hold a playful manner, but a serious one. "Vampires hurt people, I hate them; their monsters in my eyes." I speak my mind.
When Elija catches my gaze I see pain in his eyes. Did my words hurt him. "What do you think about me?" His bright blue eyes are shadowed in pain. "You're annoying, stupid, idiotic, but I haven't seen you hurt anyone, so you're on my good side." His shadowed eyes return to their original bright blue. "Lunch is almost over, we should head back inside." I suggest. We both head back inside in a comfortable silence.
