Dean instinctively turned and tried to block Castiel from the blast. They both got knocked to the ground and hit with shards of glass from the windows, Dean landed on top of Castiel. They both had cuts on them but neither of them noticed their own injuries. They both got up quickly.
"Lucifer." Castiel choked out. He grabs onto Dean and stumbles in the direction of where the doorway used to be. Dean was close behind him, both of them franticly looking as the sirens were heard distantly in the background.
"Here! Cas I found him!" Dean immediately tried to move the piece of rubble that had landed on Lucifer. He is lying spread-eagled on his back as Castiel kneels down next to him and checks his pulse.
"You're not dead. Oh thank the lord you're not dead." Castiel gasped and choked out. Dean joined Castiel once he freed Lucifer.
"He may not be dead but he is dying. We need to get him to the paramedics now." Dean says, voice shaking slightly. Dean was trying very hard to stay strong for Cas. It was Cas' brother but Dean was friends with all the Novak's, they were like his second family. Castiel tried to lift Lucifer to carry him to the ambulance.
"OW OW OW FUCK!" Castiel cried out and dropped Lucifer the second he tried to lift him.
"What happened?! Cas are you okay?" Dean rushed over to Castiel and immediately saw the odd angle at which his arm was bent.
"Cas your arm is broken. I'll carry him, come on." Dean bent down and picked up Lucifer. They started walking to the ambulance, Cas clutching his arm and Dean carrying Lucifer bridal style. Dean had blood running all down his face.
Lucifer was in bad shape. He had a large shard of glass coming out of his stomach and the entire left half of his face was burnt and bloody.
"HEY! WE NEED SOME HELP OVER HERE!" Dean screamed as they got closer to the paramedics. Castiel's slight sobbing could be heard over the sirens... at least Dean could hear it. The paramedics ran and put Lucifer on a gurney and immediately put him into the ambulance.
"Sir, you're arm is broken. You should come with us." The paramedic said. Castiel was too upset to speak.
"We'll follow right behind. We have to call his dad anyway." Dean turns to Cas. "Is that okay or do you want to ride with Lucifer in the ambulance?" Dean asked, knowing that Castiel was having trouble processing right now. The paramedics tried to inspect Dean as they could already see that he was injured but he just ignored them. Castiel nodded and Dean pulled him in for a hug.
"Come on babe, let's get to the car." Dean led Cas to the car and helped him get inside. Dean walked around and got into the drivers side after he helped Castiel put on his seatbelt. He started the car and began to follow the ambulance.
"C-can you c-call them for me Dean? I c-can't." Castiel choked out.
"Of course Cas. It's gonna be okay. Lucifer is tough. He'll be up and annoying the crap out of Michael again before you know it." Dean smiled sympatheticly and grabbed Cas' shoulder lightly. He took out his phone and put it on speaker.
"Hello?"
"Hey Michael. Is Chuck there? There's been an accident." Dean said, trying now to keep his own voice steady."I'm putting you on speaker, Gabriel, Balthazar and Dad are here. What's happening is everyone okay?" Michael said, voice full of worry.
"Well no everyone isn't okay. We were walking to the diner and it exploded. Lucifer was already inside, he had just made it to the door and it blew up." A single tear fell down Deans face as Cas let out the son he had been holding in.
"WHAT?! IS HE STILL ALIVE?!"
"WHAT THE FUCK?!"
"HE BETTER NOT BE DEAD!"
"ALL OF YOU SHUT UP NOW!" Chuck interjected. "Dean, how is Lucifer now? Is he...""No he's not dead. We found him under some rubble and he was unconscious but he's in the ambulance and we'll be at the hospital soon." Dean responded.
"Are you and Castiel okay?" Chuck asked worriedly. You could faintly hear Chuck telling the others to get in the car.
"We're fine. Cas' arm is broken but we should be fine." Dean still hadn't noticed his own injuries.
"We are on our way." Chuck said quickly and hung up the phone just as they arrived at the hospital.
They ran in after Lucifer but were stopped as he had to be rushed to surgery. Some doctors tried to separate Dean and Cas to evaluate their injuries but Dean refused to leave Cas. Cas and Dean went with the doctors to get Castiel's arm x-rayed.
The boys were led back to a room where the doctors could put a cast on Castiel's arm.
"How are you doing right now Cas?" Dean asked, trying to see what headspace he was in.
"How do you think I am Dean?!" Castiel yelled. He was angry and the only person that he could take his anger out on was Dean. "Lucifer is fucking dying and my fucking arm is broken! Why did we have to go to the stupid diner anyways?!"
"Cas calm down you're gonna hur-"
"DON'T TELL ME TO CALM DOWN! JUST STOP TRYING TO MAKE ME FEEL BETTER DEAN IT'S NOT GOING TO HAPPEN!" Cas screamed.
"Cas you have to let them finish the cast and then you can yell at me all you want!" Dean raised his voice only so that Cas would listen. Cas stopped for a moment and the doctor finished with the cast before quickly leaving the room.
"THERE IT'S DONE NOW! WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO NOW?! HUH?! I DON'T NEED YOU TO HOLD MY FUCKING HAND AND TELL ME EVRYTHING'S ALRIGHT! JUST SHU- Dean?"
"Cas- I don't feel so good."
"DEAN! CAN WE GET SOME HELP IN HERE? Dean I'm sorry wake up please!" Castiel stopped yelling when Dean had collapsed. "Dean! Please! I'm sorry!"
Castiel was sobbing uncontrollably as the doctors took him out of the room so they could help Dean.He had lost his brother and the love of his life in one day.
