Shimmering sand twinkles beneath their feet as they walked along the beach. The last light of the day reflecting faintly in the water behind them as the stars became visible.
The lights of the carnival shone behind them, laughter and cheesy carnival music heard faintly in the distance.
"I'm tellin' you, I won that stupid ring toss! Screw the stupid carnie." Dean talked animatedly to Cas as they walked along the moonlit shore. Cas was carrying a ridiculously large stuffed bee.
"Hey. You won the strength test. Stop complaining. At least you didn't shoot the carnie with the water gun because you thought he was the clown you were supposed to shoot." Cas and Dean laughed harder than they should've.
"That guy needed a shower anyway. Smelled like he came from the sewer." Dean laughed and bumped into Cas as they walked.
"What like Pennywise?"
"Exactly!" Dean turned so he was walking backwards in front of Cas.
"Pennywise is just a boggart." Cas said smiling.
"Like from Harry Potter? Explain." Dean said when Cas confirmed his initial question.
"Well Pennywise showed up as whatever your fear was and the way to get rid of him was to stop being afraid, just like a boggart."
"That makes so much sense! You're a genius." Dean exclaimed. He turned so him and Cas were walked next to each other again.
"That or I spend too much time talking to Charlie." Castiel finished.
"I guess that's a real memory then." Dean laughed shyly. That seemed like a date.
'How can he be so adorable?' Rushed through Dean's head, not for the first time. Dean boarded this train of thought. 'I mean look at him! His eyes that stare into my soul, that I definitely wouldn't mind getting lost in. His hair that always looks like he's just had sex. That adorable head tilt thing that he does when he's confused. His lips. I bet they'd be soft and perfect just like the rest of him. God the things I want-'"Dean? You there?" Cas was waving his hand in front of Dean's face.
"Sorry. I spaced out. Trying to remember some more stuff." Dean was pulled out of his fantasy. He plans to find out what Castiel thinks of him before he makes any moves.
"Oh, okay. Do you have any other memories you want to ask about?" Castiel asked curiously.
"No. I don't think so. If I remember any more I'll let you know." Dean got up and flopped face down on his bed, hiding his urge to kiss the other man.
Hedwig's Theme started playing through the room.
"Hey Charlie." Castiel answered his phone. Charlie had customized her ringtone shortly after Dean did his. Dean turned his head to look at Castiel, his face still half smushed into his pillow.
"You have to let me ask him!" Castiel laughed. "Charlie wants to know if we want to come over and watch Harry Potter."
"Sure, why not?" Dean got off the bed and walked towards the door. Castiel followed once he told Charlie they were on their way.
Dean started up the Impala as Cas got into the car.
"You're gonna have to show me where to go because I have no idea." Dean said jokingly. "I must be getting old, I can't remember a thing."
"Dean! You shouldn't joke about that!" Castiel said as he smacked Dean on the arm and laughed. Dean made a note to make Cas laugh more often.
"No but actually do I go left or right?" Dean said with a smile.
