Addis POV-
I stayed in my room the rest of the day by choice. Jc finally texted me back, he really knows how to cheer a girl up. We talked about numerous things but he eventually had to go because his phone was going to die. At about 9 my mom came in my room with a plate in her hands, which held 2 slices of cheese pizza.
"Hey, I brought you some pizza." She said as if nothing happened earlier.
"Thanks for knocking. And I'm not hungry." I said, even though I was starving.
"Sorry. Addi you haven't eaten anything all day. Just try to eat one piece."
"I said I'm not hungry. But thanks anyway."
"C'mon Addi, work with me here. I'm trying to be nice and forgive you for what happened. Now PLEASE eat some pizza." I took the plate from her and started to nibble on the tip. She say on the edge of my bed and sighed. "Thank you. Now about this morning, I'm sorry. I shouldn't have yelled at you for falling asleep. I'm sorry for defending Chloe, but you have to understand that's she's seven. She doesn't know how to act in a situation like that."
"I know, I'm sorry too. For yelling at you and Chloe. I felt so bad after I saw how much she was crying."
"She was just scared. When you didn't come home, us fighting on the phone, and then us in your room. It took me about an hour after that to calm her down. You know she didn't mean any harm to your room, honey." I nodded. My mom reached for my hand and I gave it to her. "We can make a new picture frame this weekend, if you want." I nodded again. It was silent for a good 40 seconds.
"Does she think I hate her?" I blurted out, breaking the silence, referring to Chloe.
"Oh Addi, no baby. She knows you were just upset. I told her you were going through a rough time. She would never think you hate her." I nodded. "So are we good?"
"Yeah. But can you please start treating me like a semi-adult? It doesn't even have to be like big responsibilities, just maybe me being able to go wherever I want as long as you know?"
"It's not that I don't want to treat you like an adult, it's just. I don't know. You're just growing up and I guess I'll have to adjust to that. I'll start treating you less like a kid."
"Thanks mom."
"So, who's this boy you've been talking to?" She asked, changing the subject completely.
"How do you know about Jc?"
"Chloe told me all about him at the park with you. I'm guessing that's who's house you went to?"
"Yes but he lives with three other guys and there was two other girls there with us." I said preparing for her scolding.
"I never said I wasn't fine with it. Remember, I'm treating you like an adult." I smiled. "So when will I meet this kid?"
"This kid has a name, Jc. And whenever."
"Maybe you can invite Jc over for dinner on Wednesday?"
"REALLY?!" I screamed.
"Shhhh, Chloe's asleep. But yes, if you want."
"Thank you thank you!" I hugged her.
"All he's doing is coming over for dinner, you're not getting a million dollars!"
"I know but he's important to me. I'll text him." He responded right away and said yes. "He said yes."
"Okay sounds good. Why don't you get some sleep, you've been through a lot today." My mom stood up and pulled my covers up over me while I lied back on to my pillows. "Goodnight Addi." She said and gave me a kiss on the forehead.
"Night." I drifted off as soon as she turned off the light.
