ADDI'S POV-
I was trying to unpack the things from my old house in Ohio when I heard a knock on my door.
"Come in," I said.
"Hey, how far along are you?" My mom asked.
"I've gotten almost 3 drawers done in my dresser, if that says anything."
"So not very far...?" I shrugged my shoulders. I was still trying to hold a grudge to my mom because I'm extremely mad at her for moving. I lived in Ohio for all of my life, 18 years, and moved across the country to LA because of my moms job. My parents had just gotten a divorce 2 years before and my mom had to take care of me and my little sister herself. So, getting a promotion meant more money, which meant better lives for us, but also meant moving. I was, and still am, furious.
"Chloe and I are taking a break and getting lunch, wanna come?" She asked.
"No thanks, I'll finish unpacking." My mom gave leaned against the wall and crossed her arms.
"Let me rephrase that. You, Chloe and I are getting lunch. Take a break, and you can start up when we get back."
"I'm not hungry."
"Addi you don't know the area or any neighbors if anything happened while we were gone. We're leaving in 10 minutes." My mom walked out of the room and shut my door. I leaned back and laid on the floor, hitting my head on my nightstand that wasn't put in the right spot yet.
"Crap," I said and grabbed my head in my hands. That really hurt.
"Addi mommy says were leaving now," my sister said barging into my room without knocking.
"Okay I'm getting my shoes on. And knock next time. The rules haven't changed just because were in a new house." I snapped at my little sister.
"Sorry..." My sister mumbled looking down at her feet.
"No,
We decided to go to Panera Bread. I got Mac and cheese, which is the best thing ever.
"I bet Addi's glad there's Paneras here," Chloe said.
Me and my mom both chuckled and I said, "I am glad!"
My mom talked about all the amazing things in LA and other parts of California that we can do this summer.
"Hey," I interrupted, realizing I shouldn't have when my mom gave me the that-was-rude-but-go-ahead-and-talk-anyway-look. "Oh, sorry..." I apologized.
"No, you're fine. Go ahead and finish."
"Ok, well, will I be able to go to the beach whenever I want since we live so close?"
"I don't know Addi... I don't think I would want you there alone, to be honest."
"But mom, I'm 18. I'm responsible enough to go to the beach and lay out without dying!"
"I'll think about it." My mom winked and gave me a slight smile. I didn't want to get her in a bad mood again, so I just nodded.
