KIM Yuna was a stranger to despair and panic.

She was always calm, had cool temper and level-headed. The only time she was not any of the above mentioned qualities was when she was submitting her resignation letter to Atty. Yoon who hired her few months back.

The middle-aged man gazed at her letter and back to Yuna. The post was kept short and straight to the point. The reason upon her resignation was stated clearly. She was resigning from her job due to some personal problems she wanted to confront.

“Do you really have to resign, Kim Yuna-ssi?”

“Yes? Ugh...” Her tongue got caught in her throat as her brain contemplated for the answer to give him.

He did not seem to notice her distraught state as he carefully placed the letter on his table. “Honestly, it will be regretful to lose someone as talented as you are in our team.”

Yuna looked down and bowed, “It was really nice working here, Atty. Yoon... But things that required my attention came up and working at this time in the firm will be really hard for me.”

“I see...” He said.

“I hope you understand.”

“Yes, that’s why I’m making you another offer.” He started saying. “Sign the contract.” He insisted.

“I ca—“ She said but was cut short by her Superior.

“You take a leave and come back when you have attended to those things that required your attention.”

She stared at her superior as though to ask if he was kidding which he was obviously not. Eventually, Yuna agreed with the arrangement. The next day, she signed the contract to become a permanent employee at Yoon and Kim Law Firm. Two days later, with the blessing of her parents and superior and few money in her pocket, she travelled to Japan.

Time must have truly gone by fast. Six years had passed already since she left the country she once called her second home. The last time she was there, the country was disaster-torn. Today, it stood as busy and magnificent as it had been when she first stepped her foot on it.

From Tokyo, she travelled up to Tohoku where she was met by Kyoko whom she had recently reconnected with, thanks to the internet. With her luggage on hand, she was greeted by a smiling impeccably slim woman who was wearing a placard tied around her neck that said: Welcome back, my smartest friend, Kim Yuna.

Apart from her flashy signage, Yuna spotted her easily among the crowd at the subway because of her strikingly purple hair. She did not easily recognize her when she stopped in front of her. It was not until she removed her dark eyeglasses that Kyoko squealed. “YUNAAAAA! I missed you a lot!” She exclaimed whilst crying and squeezing her into a hug.

Yuna could only laugh at her. “It’s been so long, Kyoko.” She cried excitedly too.

The two long lost friends schmoozed to catch up with each other’s life. After high school, Kyoko had enrolled at a second-tier University in Tokyo where she was still taking classes up until now. Her course had something to do with multimedia arts. She was also working as a photographer. She found it as one thing she was actually really passionate about so she was thinking of making it her fulltime job once she graduated.

“I’ll take your pictures for free when you get married with Zuzu.” She laughed giddily at the thought of her two friends dating. “I always knew things would end up with this, Yuna. Hahahaha!”

“You sure waited for so long to grill me like this, didn’t you?” She found herself laughing too.

“Awww.” She wiped the tears from her eyes. “That mushroom must be glad. You left your job for him.”
