AS SOON as the interview was over, Yuna gave Yuzuru a ring to congratulate him for the flawless performance. He answered his phone right away.
"Congratulations, Yuzu!"
"Thank you." He said gratefully. "How was the interview? Have you arrived? Are you here now? Where are you, Yuna?" He spoke nonstop just like when he gets excited.
Yuna paused. She had promised to go quickly as soon as the interview was over. She was actually expecting that the interview would soon be over but it turned out the other way around. Now, she was just coming out of the Law Building.
"I'm still at Seoul, Yuzuru." She admitted.
There was a long silence from the other line until, "Oh," Yuzuru uttered. "I thought you said you'd be here today..." He sounded exhausted when he told her those words. Guilt ran over Yuna as she had failed to keep her promise.
"Yeah, I'm coming to Pyeongchang now. I'll just drop by at my apartment to get my stuff." She said, doubling her step.
But she stopped on track when he said, "You don't have to, Yuna."
"What?" She heard herself saying, she was not particularly sure if she heard what he had said clearly.
"You don't have to rush over here. Your interview must have tired you a lot." He explained. "Anyway, I'm hanging up now."
His words rang hollow in her ears. And just like that, they got disconnected.

"He wasn't normally like that, Aera." Yuna complained as they waited for the train.
The two friends were heading back home to Pyeongchang this weekend to watch the Olympic games. It had been a while since they both visited their hometown together. It was 2 o'clock in the afternoon and despite the sunny weather outside, it still was undeniably cold. The train was jammed pack as people from Seoul wanted to take opportunity of the weekend to watch the Olympic games at the nearby city.
"He was the most considerate person ever so I don't get it." She felt just as bad that she couldn't make it, but he did not need to act like that and shut her out. Their conversation earlier kept bugging her.
Choi Aera clicked her tongue, "It's probably just a case of misunderstanding. Cut the guy some slack. He just probably wanted to share this milestone with you so bad that's why he's so upset when you failed to show up."
"But it's beyond my control." She said. "Ugh, he's giving me a headache."
Aera laughed, "I can't believe I'm hearing this from you, Yuna."
"What?"
"You getting a headache from a guy."
"He's just no other regular guy." Yuna said meaningfully as she stared out the window and sighed.

Yuzuru did not answer her messages and calls until the evening. The next morning, on the day of his free skate, she made sure to get up very early. When the gates of Gangneung Arena opened, she was the first to come in with Aera.
Luckily, it fell on a weekend. Despite the unsettled misunderstanding between them, Yuna was excited to see him again skate live for the first time in years. With his perfect execution of his short program, Yuna was hoping for the best results of his free skate. Along the way she noticed how really popular Yuzuru was. People from different walks of life and from various races gathered just to see him perform. They brought banners with his face on it, Flags of Japan, and Pooh plushies.
