KIM YUNA always had a hard time disclosing her thoughts to Hanyu Yuzuru.
It was a bit ironic since she felt very homey and more like herself every time she hang out around the guy. Despite being comfortable with him, Yuna still found it uneasy to share her thoughts with him. It happened several times already in the course of their friendship.
When Yuzuru chose to train over spending some afternoon with Yuna when they were younger, she was very frustrated but she didn't say it. When things between him and the ice were getting pretty serious and it annoyed her immensely Yuna but she went on following him at the ice rink without saying a word. When he finally said that he signed up for a competition, Yuna cried so hard not because she was happy but because she was aware playing time with Yuzuru would then be limited. When she had heard the conversation of her parents about the possibility of leaving Japan for Korea, she did not say a word and let Yuzuru go thinking he had someone to go back to in Sendai when the time came that he had to return. Her definite thoughts always went unspoken with Yuzuru. Right now, she was faced with the same dilemma.
Should I tell him or not?
She chewed her lips as she stared at her window. The first snow of the season was pouring softly outside. The first week of December had gone by quickly. The previous month drained the human in her. However, today the heavens had decided to reward her for all the hardwork rendered here on earth.
On her lap placed the letter of acceptance from Seoul National University School of Law. On her hand was her phone and on its screen was the newly published article on the withdrawal of Hanyu Yuzuru from the Japanese Nationals. He must be having a tough time right now. She already felt guilty for leaving him behind few weeks ago. She promised to call tonight but she couldn't seem to bring herself to do it not that the news on his withdrawal had surfaced.
"What shall I do, Yuzu-ah?" She asked herself out loud and as though he had heard her query across the seas, his name emerged on her phone's screen. "Shit," Yuna cursed but answered the phone after the third ring.
"Hello, Yuna." He greeted in his usual crisp voice. "Is it late in Seoul?"
"Ugh, no. Why do you ask?" She inquired. Japan was not that far, the time difference wouldn't be so apparent.
Yuzuru ignored her question, "How's your day?" He sounded like the news did not affect him at all.
Yuna sighed. "It's fine. The snow's falling here."
"It's probably a sight." He bet.
"Yeah," she said and they fell silent.
"Yuna..."
"Yuzu..."
They both said their names almost at the same time.
"You go first," he started saying.
She twisted the locks of her hair with her finger. "The result came out today."
"And?" He sounded cheery that it broke her heart.
"I... I got accepted at SNU." She felt like delivering a sad news. Contrary to her expected reaction, Yuzuru seemed equally elated to heard about it.
"OF COURSE!" He exclaimed immediately. "Of course, you'd get accepted. What did I tell you, Yuna-yah?" He sounded genuinely happy at the other line that made Yuna smile.
"Thanks, Zuzu." She mumbled.
"What for?"
She hesitated for a bit. But felt eventually that it was unfair for Yuzuru who was always open to her. She swallowed before saying, "For believing in me."
