8. River in reverse

''Here, drink this.'' I said to Elijah who was laying on the bed. He took the glass of water, drank a little but then started to cough immediately. I took the glass from his hand and placed a white napkin on his forehead.

''Thank you Amy.'' he said. ''It's not going to be a very nice thing to see in a while. You should leave.'' he said again and I raised my eyebrow.

''Elijah, I'm a bog strong original vampire. I can take care of both of us.'' I said half joking. He smiled and then his face twisted to pain. After a few seconds his face was blank. He looked at me.

''Celeste?'' he asked. Oh no. He's hallucinating about his dead lover. How lovely.

''Elijah is me, Amy. Not Celeste.'' I said but his look didn't change.

''I'm so sorry I wasn't able to help you!'' he said while tears left his eyes.

''It's fine. There was nothing you could've done.'' I said and his face changed.

''Amy?'' he asked confused.

''Yes I'm here.'' I said and he looked at me up and down.

''You look lovely tonight, darling. I think I'm the luckiest man in here.'' he said to me. What? What the hell.

''Elijah, what are you talking about?'' I asked him.

''Oh don't play fool. You said you've never been to an opera before. Here we are. Outside the theatre door. In a minute we will begin.'' he said and looked around. I smiled sadly as a tear left my eyes. He was seeing the first time we went out together. He took me to see opera. That was the day Klaus stabbed me. After the opera.

''Hey, listen to me. We are in the Bayoo, Elijah. In New Orleans.'' I said trying to bring him back to reality.

''Why did you leave me!?'' he shouted and vamp ran on me and pinned me on the wall.

''Let go of me, Elijah!'' I said and tried to break free  but he was stronger.

''You left me alone!!'' he yelled again.

''I never left you!'' I yelled back. His face changed again. It softened.

''Celeste. I've missed you so much.'' he said and looked into my eyes.

''I'm not Celeste, Elijah.'' I said and tried to break free but he was still holding me tight. His chest was against mine as he looked at me smiling.

''I love you.'' he said smiling and crushed his lips in mine. My eyes widened and I froze. His kiss was soft as his lips were moving against mine. Before I could react he took a step back groaning in pain. I quickly saw behind him and saw a blond woman. And a wooden stake on Elijah's back. 

''Hello to you too.'' I said as Elijah was on the ground unconscious.

The werewolf and I were outside the house sitting near a bonfire.

''You've got questions.'' she concluded.

''Yes a lot actually. Who are you? Why are you following me and the others? Do you know Hayley? What happened here?'' I said some of them.

''I'm Eve. I follow you because you and your friend are Originals into werewolf country. That's pretty much not okay. Yes I know Hayley. Not personally but yes. What happened here? Marcel happened.'' Eve said.

''What did he do?'' I asked.

'' He killed most of us. Later, the descendants of the ones who dodged death, he strong-armed a witch into putting a curse on them.'' she said.

''What curse?'' I asked with interest.

'' Swap nature around, inside out. Made it so their natural stay as wolves. They only turn back human on the full moon. We're hunted by the marks we carry. That crescent moon birthmark, that's why I got rid of mine. I didn't wanna get found up.'' she said.
