SIX YEARS LATER . . .

“AJ, come here, I will not ask again!” I shouted at my five-year-old son as I followed him through the halls of the institute, his giggles leading me to him like breadcrumbs. Shadowhunters watched me in amusement as I wobbled after my hyperactive son. Ladies and Gentleman, I present to you Alexander Lightwood Junior. Known by everyone as AJ. The most active little boy you will ever meet. Deadly looking to. And I do not mean in the dangerous way, well maybe just for girls. With my blonde hair and Alec’s hazel eyes and tan skin, our little boy will be a heartbreaker one day. May the Angel help us all.

A hand lightly touched on my shoulder from behind, sparks shooting from the touch.

“I got him.” My husband promised, turning to the direction of the kitchen. We both knew that AJ would be there, he has just figured out how to get to the cookies in the top of the cupboard. He pulls one of the kitchen chairs to the counter, climbs up and opens the cupboard, bringing him the chocolate-chip cookies Alec and I so desperately try to hide from him.

“Thanks, with the pace I’m going, we’ll miss the wedding.” I joked and Alec stopped, turning around and giving me a heart stopping smile that still awakens a zoo in my stomach. He gives me a quick kiss and places his hand on my stomach lovingly. With a full blown grin, I check out my husband’s ass as he jogs away. Hey, don’t judge. It is one damn fine sight to behold in a suit. I bit my bottom lip, and nearly groan in disappointment when he disappears around the corner, taking that sweet view with him. Okay, this is so your fault, I think to myself as I place my hand on my bloated belly.

“And how is my great-grandchild doing?” I heard my grandmother ask from behind me. I turned around and saw Maryse standing next to Imogen. I gave them both a smile. Yes, I worked out all of my issues with both of them. I saw my mother-in-law give my grandmother a significant look. “What? She is my great-grandchild and your grandchild.” The red-headed woman pointed out.

“Oh, yes. Right.” Maryse clears her throat. “How is my grandchild doing?”

I grinned, “She’s great. Slowing me down bit when I was chasing after AJ, but other than that, she is great.”

“Have you decided on a name yet?” Maryse asked once again. Imogen jabbed her in the ribs. They both want my little girl to be named after them. I said over my dead body. That hasn’t stopped them from trying. We struggled a lot, but Alec and I finally decided on a name. Well, more so me than Alec. Since he begged me to have AJ named after him, I agreed with the condition that I get to name our next child. He was so overjoyed that I’d consider having another child, he immediately agreed.

I nodded, “We have.”

“What is it?” The two woman asked in unison, the excitement practically bubbling from them.

“Tame yourselves, it’s not one of your names.” Their excitement dimmed a little but the curiosity remained.

“We still want to know.” Maryse said, gaining a nod from my grandmother.

“Yeah, it’s not like we can keep calling her baby girl Lightwood for the next two months.” A young male voice said from behind me. The boy that is slowly turning into a man reached my side. I could barely believe that he was already sixteen.

“Well, don’t you look just handsome, Max.” I commented my brother-in-law. He blushed as red as a tomato. I wondered how long that would last before he realizes how handsome he is and starts turning on his deadly Lightwood charm. I would know how it can get; I am married to his brother after all, still as hopelessly in love with him as ever.

“Thanks Sam.” He said, giving me a side hug. I lifted my hand and ruffled his hair.

“Anytime, kiddo.” Max gave me a sour look but I could see the affection in his eyes.
