Navyriver and Aquashine padded back to the camp from a hunting patrol, Navyriver carrying a small trout and Aquashine carrying a fat frog proudly. Crystalclear followed, two salmons swinging from her jaws.
Splashpelt had gone on a patrol earlier, and was getting hungry. He gulped down the frog, and started to clean his pelt, lapping at it with his rough tongue.
"No! It's your turn!" A high pitched voice yowled.
"No! I was the fish yesterday!"
Padding over to sort out the fight, he noticed a pale pelt hiding from the rest.
Three new kits had recently joined the clan. They were Minnowegg's third litter. Riverkit, Salmonkit, and Stonekit were now part of the clan. Salmonkit seemed to never play with the rest. The others were always arguing.
"Fine, I'll be the fish." Riverkit mewed, disappointed.
Splashpelt went to play with the kits, but Navyriver beat him to them. "I'll be the fish. I'll help train you a bit! Stonekit, go in that bush and see if you can catch me when I start to run. Riverkit, try and get me from the other side of the camp. If you catch me-" His mew drowned out as Splashpelt padded away.
Cleaning his pelt by the gateway, Splashpelt felt as if the whole clan stopped acknowledging him. He was so alone these days. Crystalclear spent most of her time moping, or laughing with the other warriors. Oceanwater wasn't his mentor anymore, and he was busy as a deputy. Currentstar was getting frailer by the day. His parents seemed to think he didn't need them, now that he was grown up. His brothers and sisters cared about him just as much as everyone else. They loved everyone.
"Oceanwater wants us to take a hunting patrol to the Fast Currents. He said if you're not up to it, I can just go with Kelpsand." Aquashine prodded him out of his mumbling dreams.
"I think I need a nap." He lied. Letting his tail droop, he put his paw where many others have been, and led himself to the warrior's den. Curling up for a nap, he closed his eyes.
His eyes opened almost immidietly.
