Two moons had passed. Minnowegg had moved to the elders den, having so many litters for the newborn clan. She didn't feel old inside, but she felt too weak to deliver more kits. She was so successful, Splashpelt convinced her she didn't have to anymore. Kelpsand stayed with the clan, fretting that he didn't do enough to live up to the same amount as Minnowegg. He announced that he would serve the clan as a loyal warrior for longer still.

Splashpelt had seen Sandfang at gatherings. He recalled speaking to her in the earlier gathering, and shivered.

"Splashpelt! Haven't seen you for a while, kitty." She had mewed teasingly. Splashpelt had still hated that nickname, but he wouldn't dare tell her that, as she had so much pride, she could have fought him right then and there.

"I was busy with my new apprentice." He replied proudly, puffing out his chest. She didn't seem remotly interested in that.

"Shh! I smell mouse." She mewed. Surprised, Splashpelt was about to reply, but she shushed him again.

Suddenly, she darted behind the tree in Darkclan territory, and snatched the creature in her claws. Splashpelt had to disagree with her on this one catch.

"That's not ours! Leave it here! You can't catch prey in another clan's territory!" He had hissed at her, but she didn't seem to care. She shrugged off the scolding like it was a petal on her shoulder.

"So what? I've been doing this for a while. It restocks the prey pile." She replied, stretching in the moonlight.

Splashpelt had been so scared to talk to her after that. She was an enemy warrior. She may have even snuck off to hunt in his own clan. He used to like her more, but she had shrugged that off during that gathering. Splashpelt couldn't speak to her. Not after that.

He realized as he was recalling the event his paws had carried him to the border between Meadowclan and Seaclan. It couldn't hurt to renew it, he thought. Marking his side, he heard a rustling in a nearby bush.

He peered at it. This bush wasn't any bush. This was the bush he had seen Sandfang in those moons ago. She had attacked him, just for the fun of it. He wouldn't be so easily shocked again. He pounced at the bush, and pinned down a not-even-remotly-surprised Sandfang.

"We need to talk."
