"Please explain." Finfish mewed.

"Well, when Currentstar started to cough, I decided to swim out to get him herbs. I barely remembered any, but I knew how important it was for our leader to get better. The water was, indeed, frozen over. I was losing breath as I tried to get to the island and reach Finfish's herb stocks. Suddenly, I felt a gap. There was a small hole in the ice. It was too small for all of me, but I took a breath from it and continued my search."

"There was another hole next to it. This hole was bigger. It was big enough for me, but just barely. It took me ages to worm through. I was so scared when I got through. I kind of just wanted to turn around and run back. From kithood, I had tried to remember all herbs I've seen Finfish use, in case she died and another medicine cat was needed, or if she got sick and another cat needed to be treated. I had ran to the herb stocks, but they were all dry and crumbling. They were dead, and couldn't be used."

"I saw some new sprouts growing about the island. One was this feverfew. I grabbed it in my jaws, remembering Finfish use it on Splashkit when he had a cold. I swam back, and felt myself losing air before I got to the gateway. I didn't know which was closer; the gateway, or the holes. I guessed the holes and swam back up, but I couldn't find them. I kept banging my head and trying to find them. If Splashpelt didn't come when he did, I would have drowned." She finished.

Finfish was using the herbs. At first, they had no effect. Then, Currentstar's eyes were clearer. He sat up, obviously a little better. The clan cheered their leader's name, celebrating his life. The clan was proud of him, and proud of Crystalclear. She had saved her leader. She was a hero.

"Crystalclear, you have remembered herbs from when you were young. You are a warrior now, but would you like to train as medicine cat? Would you like to use this information you've kept up in your head?" Finfish asked suddenly.

"What? No! I'm a warrior! I've trained as a warrior throughout my apprentice days!" She yelped.

"It seems to me like you've been training for a medicine cat even longer, young one." Finfish countered.

"I didn't learn that to be a medicine cat. I learned that to be useful when the clan couldn't have you. I don't want to make you feel bad, but my mind has been set on warrior from kithood. I promise you, you have an important role. Still, you must wait a little longer for an apprentice." She padded to her new den.

Splashpelt, proud of his new name and satisfied with his surviving leader, followed her vanishing tail. The clan was successful.
