He was standing on a cliff in a weird territory he had never seen. Turning, he started to check his surroundings when he saw a tom sitting and watching him.
"Oh, hi, do you know where we are? I just fell asleep, and I ended up...here? Where...is here?" He asked. The tom smiled.
"Hello, Splashpelt. I am Mudfang. I was an elder in Meadowclan. I had died in a battle you probably remember. Anyway, I am here to tell you something very important." He mewed.
"Is that...where we are? Is that the important thing?" Splashpelt asked.
Mudfang chuckled. "No, but it is very important for you to know. You'll figure out soon. The real thing is the truth about you," he paused and let his words sink in. "You are destined to be a great leader, Splashpelt. The greatest your clan could ever know for moons. But you have to watch out. Sand will be your downfall. It will suffocate your clan. You won't see them again if you lose to sand. Watch out for the sand, Splashpelt."
Splashpelt's eyes went big as moons. "Is that a prophecy? I'm going to be the greatest leader my cats will see?"
"No, Splashpelt. It's not a prophecy. It's the truth. If anything, it's a warning. You might be the greatest leader. You have to face the sand." Just then, Splashpelt's vision turned blurry.
"Are you leaving?" He asked. The tom didn't answer.
He was standing under the highrock. He felt younger somehow. Currentstar was watching him with great pride in his eyes. "From this day forward, you will be known as Splashpelt."
My warrior ceremony! But why am I seeing this?
The area swirled again, and he was standing in a whitish space. It was so bright and blurry, he couldn't even see where he was. Trees were around him, but he couldn't recognize where they were from. Cats were lined up in front of him. He couldn't count how many before a she-cat in the front stood up to him.
An achingly familiar scent washed over him, but he couldn't place a paw on it. She did look like she knew him. She was gazing at him with...compassion, confusion...and...longing.
"With this life, I give you love. Have the power to love, and don't ever think about making the wrong choice again." She touched her muzzle to his, and he felt a burning sensation through his very bones. Before he could cry out, he was back with Mudfang.
Mudfang led him over to the edge of the cliff with his tail. Splashpelt heard what was happening before he saw it.
Cats. Battling. Yowls screeched through the air. He tried to make out who was battling among the sea of claws and teeth. Then, he recognized one. Navyriver, biting hard on a tom's muzzle. At the front...a light blue cat with grey stripes. Wait...was that...him? Aquashine and him. He could see. Fighting blow for blow at a red tom. He looked like Redstar, but younger, and different colored eyes. He also had red stripes.
"Why are you showing me this?!" He called. Before he could answer, he woke up.
