"Alright, ladies. Great game!" I yell over the crowd, "Extended practice next week. Call your parents.""Jasmine!"
I freeze, closing my eyes before turning around, the smile leaving my face. Hell no. "Nope. Not today, Satan." I push past her, jogging when I see dark, curly hair. "Hey, Sean!"
Sean turns around and smiles at me, slowing down, and then Mason, Cole, Tamara, Gabriel, sadly Emily, Jordan, and Liam also turn. "Hey, Sexy."
"Aye, cut that shit out," Liam says seriously, he raises an eyebrow when Sean puts his hand over his heart, mock offended.
I hug him anyway, and he tells me I did a better job this game. "Jasmine—"
"Nope, Satan. I'm doing the right thing today. You hear me, Jesus? I'm walking away, turning the other cheek! She won't get me today." I ignore Sophia, taking Liam's hand and he kisses the back of mine as we walk off.
"Jasmine, please." She touches my shoulder, and I shrug it off, stopping in place. I sigh, turning around and I give her a bored look.
"What could you possibly want, Sophia?" I shake my head, not feeling like putting up with her schemes today.
"Um. Can we talk?" She tucks a strand of hair behind her ear. "Please." Unlike Emily, her voice isn't as annoying. It's actually gotten less high over the year.
"Give me a minute?" I look up at Liam and he glances at Sophia before rolling his eyes when he looks back at me.
"Every minute late, I'm spanking that ass." He leans down and kisses me before starting to walk with the group.
"Hey don't leave me!" I yell out to him and he waves me off. Asshole.
My asshole.
Sophia and I walk side by side, out of the gym and I can count the minutes in my head. We enter the hallway, where everyone's sports pictures are hung up. I lean against the wall.
"Look," she sighs, "we're all going to college soon, and I don't want any bad blood with anyone before we go. So,
I want to apologize.""For?" I tilt my head to the side, interested in what she's about to say.
"Any and everything I did to you over the years." She shrugs, "I've been a bitch. I guess, we all knew that Liam was after you—"
"We?" I furrow my eyebrows, confused. "What do you mean we—how would anyone know about what Liam was after?" I lift up from the wall, crossing my arms over my chest.
Her being taller than me, she looks down, but only slightly. "Me, Emily, and Angelica." She shrugs, "Angel, she really wanted Liam. Like really bad. She used to get so...angry. Whenever he talked to anyone other than her." She shakes her head.
Three minutes.
"Okay, what does that have to do with me?"
"Well," she shifts her weight onto her other leg. "He always has his eyes on you. It wasn't that noticeable, at first. Then this year, it was magnified. For whatever reason that was, but he would..." she narrows her eyes at the ground.
"We would be talking to him, and he would just follow your figure. He would watch you walk all the way down the hallway, until you were out of his sight. It was incredibly annoying—that's not the point." She giggles.
"I guess what I'm trying to tell you is that he always had eyes for you. Everyone else was a coverup, even Angel. Angelica was pissed, so she wanted us to get dirt on you, but then you shot her, so..."
