My parents wanted to spend the day with Skyleigh and I didn't mind because I needed a break. My arms were practically sore from changing diapers, fixing bottles, and cradling. Marcus was struggling to put Skyleigh's diaper on and it was frustrating me. I watched from across the room while packing her diaper bag.
"Let me do it."
He stepped aside and watched me.
"Damn, what's the problem?"
"Don't start." I mumbled, while putting the diaper on correctly.
"I'm tryna help. You must want to give yourself a hard time?"
"I'm not going to argue with you, Marcus."
I picked the baby up and grabbed her bag before exiting the room.
"Your daddy is crazy." I teased clueless Skyleigh.
"Where you going?"
I was so annoyed, I just ignored him and made my way towards the door.
After dropping the baby off, I decided to go to the park to exercise and get away from Marcus for a few hours. The park was clear and crisp. I admired how lovely the day was until tripping over a broken off branch piece and landing on you ground.
"You okay?" A deep voice called to me while getting closer.
To say he was handsome would be an understatement. He had this smooth brown skin that glistened from sweat and these dark eyes. I took a few moments to take in his tall and muscular appearance. Damn this nigga is fine.
"Umm, yea I'm okay."
He extended his hand to help me up and I took it while rising.
"You sure you good?"
"I think so. It's just a light scrape."
"I'm Ronald." He reached out his hand.
"I'm Chantel." I took it.
"You have to be careful around here. If it's not the pavement then it's the trees." Ron spoke looking around the park.
"I see that now."
He smirked while looking down at me. "You live around here, Chantel?"
"I live on the other side of town but I run over here sometimes.
We ended up walking around the park together and getting to know each other. He was only a few years older than me and went to the opposing high school when we were younger. He just became a fireman a few month ago and told me about all his experiences. Finishing up our last lap, Ron kept looking at me. "I enjoyed talking to you but I was wondering if I could call you sometimes?"
"I don't think that's a good idea.."
"I'm not tryna stalk you, just talk." He spoke with humor in his voice.
"I know... It's just that my boyfriend.. well you know.."
"Oh, I understand. I can respect that."
I neglected to tell Ron that I had a boyfriend, let alone a child.
"But, I had fun today.."
He smiled and reached for my phone, adding his contact.
I could only watch him as infatuation took over. If I wasn't with Marcus, I would definitely be calling Ron. He walked me to my vehicle and held the door open as I got inside.
"Nice car." He spoke closing the door for me. "It's my baby."
He laughed and stepped back as I pulled off. I watched him in the rear view mirror while driving away.
