Marcus and I had been co-parenting for a month and I really needed my own place. I missed the help he would give me and didn't realize it until now. Skyleigh was five months now and things were getting a lot harder for me. I didn't want to constantly drop her off at Marcus' grandmother's house and I didn't want her crying all hours of the night when Kaidyn had to work. Today his grandmother wanted to watch both Casey and Skyleigh, so I had a free day. Whenever I dropped her off, Marcus would make sure he was gone or wouldn't leave one of the rooms until I left. He was buying Sky's clothes to her diapers and milk but wouldn't give me anything. I was so stressed about the whole situation between us, I missed my period. Today, I decided to visit my parents house for a while, just to give Kaidyn some space.
"It smells good in here!" I smiled while walking through the door.
"Hey, baby." My mom called from the kitchen.
Making my way towards her, she hugged me tightly.
"How are you today?"
"I'm fine, where's dad?" I asked opening the fridge and gabbing a bottle of water.
"He went golfing." She spoke before putting the lid on the pot.
I took a seat at the table and stared out of the window.
"Where's Marcus?"
I cleared my throat and placed the bottle down. "With Skyleigh."
"Where's Skyleigh?" She asked taking a seat across from me.
My mom locked her fingers between each other and placed her chin down, on top of them.
"With Marcus.."
"Chantel, don't play games with me."
I refused to tell my mom that Marcus and I were knee deep in shit and especially since it was my fault. And she wouldn't find out that Marcus and I were co-parenting, not on my watch.
"I'm not playing games with you. Why would I do that?"
She was eyeing me as I fiddled with the water bottle wrapping.
"I know when you're up to something, Chantel."
"Mom, if you have something you want to ask, just say it. I have no reason to lie, they are together."
"You know that's not what I mean."
"Well stop talking in circles."
"Is everything fine between you two?"
"Everything is great!" I spoke rising from the table. "I'll call you later mom, I forgot I had to run a few errands."
I kissed her cheek and rushed out of the house before she could ask anymore questions.
Driving to pick up Skyleigh early, I stopped at the gas station. While pumping gas, I did a double take at the person approaching me. "Chantel, you never returned my calls."
"What do you want, Ron?"
"I just wanted to check on you."
"I'm fine, now you should leave. I don't need anyone seeing us together and getting the wrong idea."
He furrowed his eyebrows and looked at me strangely. "Why would they do that? You single right?"
"Nigga, if you don't get the fuck out of my face!"
He threw his hands up. "Fine, let's see how Marcus feels when he gets this video."
"Video?"
"You don't remember? Maybe you were too busy riding my dick you couldn't focus."
