"Let me see your eye." Daniel spoke placing his hand on my stomach to keep me still and using his other to pull my wrist.
"Why are you helping her?"
"I think I'm blind!" I exaggerated while kicking my feet.
"Let me see, Kaidyn!" He called, clearly agitated by my squirming and reluctance to remove my hand.
When Jelly leaned over to see my eye, I hopped up and slapped the shit out of her, grabbing two fistfuls of her hair and trying to knee her in the stomach.
"Chill, out!" Daniel snatched me off of her and blocked Jelly from trying to attack me.
"Daniel? You keeping letting her disrespect me! You keep taking her side!" She had tears in her eyes while struggling to get her words out.
"Na, I'm not taking her side!"
"Then why are you protecting her?"
Before he could respond she took off, in sobs.
He turned towards me, cutting his eyes in my direction, like I was in the wrong. Okay, maybe I was but she had no right to touch me.
"I'm buying DVDs... you can come over and watch them with me. If you're not busy." I spoke running my fingers through my hair, in attempts to fix it.
Daniel shook his head in disappointment and walked off, after Jelly.
"I guess not." I mumbled, returning to my cart as a security guard approached me.
"Aww, Chantel. It's going to be okay." I spoke holding her in my arms.
She was crying so hard, her voice was turning horse. Dria was on the other side of her, holding Chantel's hand tightly.
"You have to talk to him."
"No more talking, I'm done trying to make things work. I fucked up, I really fucked up."
"If you still love him, then there is a way to fix it. Just don't give up."
"I'm tired, Dria. This is too much for me. I can't take back what I did and I'm tired of trying to prove how sorry I am for it. After tonight, I'm leaving everything in the past."
"But-"
"But nothing, just drop it. It's over."
I only sat there in silence, trying to figure out everything.
After that night, she did exactly what she said, dropped it. Marcus and Chantel
had no words for eachother. As each month passed, they grew farther apart. Everything seemed to be looking up for Chantel, she was going to graduate in a few weeks and invited everyone to celebrate with her.
Since everyone was righting their wrongs, I figured I would go ahead and make things better between Jungle Fever, Daniel, and I.
I was standing outside of their door for a few minutes, until someone finally opened.
"What do you want?" She opened the door, wearing what looked to be one of Daniels shirts.
"Ja-..Jelly, I just wanted to apologize to you and Daniel. I was wrong for the constant attacks and very petty. I would understand if you didn't want to accept my apology but I just wanted you to know that I regret it, deeply."
"Well, Daniel's not here." She crossed her arms. "But I'll accept on his behalf."
I smiled as she opened her arms for a hug and embraced me.
