It was eight in the morning and my doorbell kept ringing. Chantel slept through everything, so I knew she wouldn't be answering. Wiping my eyes sluggishly, I crawled out of bed and slowly crept to the door.
"Oh, hell na!"
"Why you doing aw that, I just flew in." Noah smiled, gripping his bags.
"Your country ass needs to just fly out!"
He laughed and licked his lips before stepping in. "Let me see where I'ma be stayin'."
I closed the door behind him and locked it. "Noah, my man won't be cool with you visiting."
He turned towards me and smirked. "Kaidyn, you ain't got no mane. Especially, since you ain't giving up that kitty."
Chantel walked out of my bedroom stretching and yawning. "Aw, you lesbian now? Damn gir', you forgot about what real meat feel like? Come on, I'll remind you." He spoke, pulling my hand.
"Stop with the games. Why are you here?"
"Well damn, I'm here because I missed you and I wanna see what you rushed back to. You ain't even tell a nigga you was leaving."
"I called you but you were probably too busy with one of those bitches to answer."
"Naw, I didn't get your call but Jessica told me you moved back and gave me your address. You told me, anytime I came to your city to just swing by."
I rolled my eyes and sighed. "How long are you staying?"
"A week, baby girl."
"Okay, I'll find you a hotel."
While driving Noah to the hotel, I stopped at a red light and noticed Jahleel in the window of a bistro with some woman. I assumed the two were on a date by the way she blushed at him.
"You might want to go." Noah spoke while staring at the green light.
I drove through the light but turned on the next exit.
"Where we going?"
Ignoring him, I steered the wheel and until pulling in front of the restaurant.
"I'll be right back." I called before getting out of the car.
Easing into the restaurant, I could see the two from the corner of my eye but I ignored them.
"Can I have two begals and an orange juice?" I asked the cashier, speaking loud enough, so the two could hear me.
"That's going to be $4.53."
I pulled out my wallet and looked at her. "I have to get change from my car." Turning around, Jahleel's eyes were dead on me.
"Jahleel? What are you doing here?" I spoke with shock, pretending to recognize him for the first time.
He spoke to his date before rising from the table and heading in my direction. "Kaidyn, I meant to call you back... but you know how busy I am."
"Busy... you're on a date.. but you're busy?"
"Na, she's just-"
"It's fine, you're not the only one who's been busy."
He looked in the direction of my car and noticed Noah, who was digging in his nose. I was embarrassed at that point, I could scream.
"I ain't gone hold you back, then."
He walked back to the table and I made my way towards the cashier. "I think I found some change."
Sitting in the driver's seat, I slammed my door with jealousy.
"You didn't have to get me breakfast, Kaidyn."
"It's not got you. And don't touch anything im my car, nasty ass!" I spoke reaching for my sanitizer.
Noah kept talking about going on a date but I wasn't even in the mood. By the way the words left his lips, I knew he was all game and at that point, I didn't want to hear it. After dropping him off at the hotel, I looked down and noticed a ring box in the passengers side. I grabbed it and saw the engagement ring he tried to give me before I moved. Just like him to bring more confusion into my life. Throwing the ring into the glove department, I headed home.
Chantel was sitting on the couch crying when I entered the apartment. She spent most of her days crying or sleeping and I understood why. "Are you hungry?"
She shook her head and stood before making her way towards the bathroom.
"Chantel!" I followed her.
I knocked on the door but she didn't answer. "Chantel, you need to stop feeling bad for yourself and do something about it!"
She then opened the bathroom door with tears in her eyes. "I am not feeling bad for myself, Kaidyn!"
"Then what are you doing? You made it wrong so you need to make it right!"
"I tried, he doesn't want to talk!"
"Give it time, Chantel. You went over there with all of that bullshit, throwing Ron in his face and you knew he was already hurt behind the situation!"
"He hurt me!"
"Well one of you has to be the bigger person and since you fucked up, maybe it should be you."
She shook her head and slammed the door in my face.
For the next few days, Noah and I went on several dates and he even took me shopping. When it was time for him to leave, I was actually disappointed. We pulled up the the airport and I opened the trunk so he could grab his bags.
"I can't even get a hug?"
Smiling, I got out of the car and he wrapped his arms around me. "Why you ain't say nothing about the ring?"
I shrugged and glanced up at him. "Just think about it, aight? I'll give you time if that's what you need."
Fixing spaghetti, I heard someone at the door and called for Chantel to get it but she never responded. I sighed and rushed to the door to answer it.
"What do you want?"
"I missed you." Jahleel smirked, brushing past me and entering the apartment.
