"Come on Sky." I reached for her as she took her first few steps across the carpet before falling. "That's a big girl." I smiled pulling her in my arms.
Since Marcus was coming to get her today, I made sure everything was already packed, that way we had very little conversation. Skyleigh pushed away from me, in attempts to walk again, before Marcus walked through the door.
"Sky!"
"Da-Da!" She clapped with glee as I watched her.
Sitting down, she turned to her knees and hands before she began to crawl to him. Marcus picked her up while I sat, collecting her toys.
"Where's her bag?"
"In the room. I'll get it."
When I walked back to the living room, Sky was slapping Marcus on the cheek and laughing. I passed him the diaper bag and he headed to the door as I followed.
"Congratulations on graduating. I couldn't make it." He turned, facing me.
"Thanks."
"So, what are we doing for her birthday?"
I shrugged my shoulders. "My mom is throwing her a party."
"I'll be there."
I nodded and closed the door behind them.
"I didn't know. She never told me."
Kaidyn was informing me about Dria and Jahleel, and I was completely shocked.
"Why didn't she tell me earlier?"
"Would you tell you?"
"So, you don't think it's a problem?"
"I'm not saying that, I'm just saying it's old. She didn't have to say anything."
"Typical, Chantel answer."
I signed, rolling my eyes. "What are you getting Sky?"
"I don't know, yet. I saw a lot of pretty dresses I wanted to buy her."
We ended up discussing Sky's birthday party a few more minutes before getting off of the phone.
Keeping the gender of the baby a secret was hard. I wanted it to be a surprise myself, but curiosity got the best of me and I had to know. When I was told I would be giving birth to another baby girl, I was extremely excited. Marcus wasn't exactly around much but it didn't bother me. I spent most of my time, focusing on my internship or raising Sky. Nights were horrible, uncomfortable sleeping or Sky waking me up in the middle of the night. It seemed like my actual day was the worst part, waking up at the crack of dawn for job training and going home with no help.
Today was the weekend and I decided to spend it with my family.
"Hey Chan Chan!" My father greeted me as I stepped through the door.
"Hey dad! Mom.."
She gave me a faint mumble, barely greeting me. My mother was not too pleased with me being pregnant again and she didn't bother hiding how disinterested she was. Sighing heavily, I closed the door before noticing my uncle sitting at the diner table with my father. He was my dad's older brother by thirteen years and always bragged about how much smarter he was.
"Grady, I didn't know you were here."
"I didn't know you were pregnant? Again? Isn't this your third child?" He spoke bluntly while staring at me strangely.
