Every student knows this struggle. Exams come and we do everything in our power to not study. We open a book, yet we scroll through our social media. We open a notebook just to doodle around the corners.
My pen was aimlessly following a path on my notepad, swirls and lines covering every corner and end. I was slowly falling asleep, the music I had been playing not helping at all. It was then that I decided to open my phone, something I know I'll regret later. I scrolled down through celebrity pages, reading false rumors and news. I watched as friends posted pictures of themselves outside either shopping or clubbing. I got even more bored, my finger accidentally pressing the app store button. My eyes caught on a game I have seen many versions off, but this one kinda called out to me. Would You Rather?
As I opened it, I saw that it had bad reviews. Some say the game doesn't open, others claimed that it glitches. I tilted my head to the side and decided to give it a go. I had nothing else to do. Well... except studying, but who does that nowadays?
As the game was downloading, the screen suddenly went blank and a single note was written in white letters:
Installing, please wait...
I waited and waited, but nothing really happened. After five minutes I decided to force restart my phone. Thankfully, the phone went back to normal and at the very bottom of my game menu I saw the game icon. So it downloaded?
I pressed it, hoping for the best, and two questions popped up. What's my name and age? I didn't trust this game right away, so I typed Kim Hosook and twenty one years old. The screen went black again and a loading icon appeared for about five seconds before it disappeared and a text popped up on my usual screen.
'Hello, Cho MinJee! Welcome to Would You Rather.'
What the hell? How did it know my real name? Did it hack into my phone? What was going on?I tried uninstalling it, but discovered that the icon for it was missing. I tried everything I could, but no matter what I do, the game won't uninstall.
I took a deep breath and decided to leave it for tomorrow. Maybe then I could think up of something new to try. I also had to get some sleep for the test tomorrow. I hope I ace it...
Fast forward to morning and I'm already late. I got ready as quickly as I could and headed for school. It was then that my phone notified me for something. It was a ringtone I never used or heard before on my phone. It sounded like a bell, or a spoon hitting glass.
I took out my phone while getting on the bus and saw a message pop up on my screen. The same pop up as from the game.
'Pass the exam/Fall down the stairs'
I tried going back to the main screen but it failed. The game wanted me to answer so I did. Of course I would choose to pass my exam over falling the stairs. I doubt I'd pass it though, I wasn't prepared enough for it.
I entered the classroom with a heavy heart knowing that I would fail my exam, but the teacher was getting late. Really late. We waited for about half an hour until another teacher came in and informed us that our teacher got sick and that he let us all... Pass?
I laughed at the coincidence that just occurred. I chose to pass my exam and that's what happened. I might even keep the game as a lucky charm. Maybe.
*ting* Another notification. I pulled my phone out of my bag and here it is again. Another would you rather.
'Accidentally kick a teacher/Accidentally push Jungkook'
Who the hell is this Jungkook?
I gave this decision a little thought. No matter how much I hated a teacher, I would never kick them. Even if it wasn't on purpose. That's why I chose to push whoever that person was.
Let's see what happens.
