A/N: Because I don't like leaving books for too long, I'll post one chapter and probably leave again. I have 2 more tests so I'll be back to updating regularly soon... I hope 😅
Also, I stopped pre reading the chapters before posting bcz I literally write them in the middle of the night and I'm too tired to check for mistakes. Sorry 🙃🙃
________________________________When I saw the picture my heart skipped a beat, it felt like it would jump right out of my chest. Cold sweat ran down my back, the feeling of fear slowly crawled under my skin like tiny needles. It took me a moment, but I held myself together, stood up and ran towards the apartment. It wasn't that far away, but it seemed like I was running a marathon. The nearer the building gets, the further it seemed to go. It was driving me insane, as if I could lose my mind any second... that is, if there was left any.
"Yoongi!" I screamed while running up the stairs.
I stumbled on the stairs and fell down. Although I was in a hurry, my body refused to cooperate. It was then that my vision got blurry, a state of deja vu consumed my mind. Every single move I made, every single breath I took, it all seemed all too familiar. Slowly, I turned my head to the side, just in time to see someone running up the stairs. How... how did I know that someone would come running along?
First comes the cough, then the slamming down of the door and then... what did come next?
I closed my eyes, trying to sum up the energy I had left to stand up, but failed. Opening my eyes in an agonizing ache, I heard coughing behind me. My head felt too dizzy to turn around to see who it was, but even if I could, the man ran too fast to notice. He slammed down the door and entered the flaming room. At this point the whole building was in smoke and I could hear the distant sirens of the fire truck. Help is coming... good.
Taking a deep breath, I tried standing up again. At first the pain in my legs felt unreal, as if someone was squeezing them too hard, but after a while it calmed down. Not only the pain, but everything. It was as if I was trapped into some illusion and now it was completely gone.
I made sure to think about what just happened after I help Yoongi out of the building.
I was about to enter when I suddenly saw Jungkook's back slightly bent down, as if he was dragging something. Yoongi.
"Let me help!" I gulped and took a hold of Yoongi's legs, helping Jungkook take him out faster.
Yoongi was knocked out cold, covered in ash and sweat. My heart ached for him. The pain didn't go away even after the medics said he would be alright. There was this feeling deep inside my chest that hinted me that something much worse would happen. I felt deeply uneasy and Jungkook felt that.
"Relax, he'll be fine." Jungkook whispered gently. He patted my shoulder and gave me a warm smile. It didn't last long, a shadow covered his face. "I'm sorry." He apologised and pulled me into a tight hug, his fingers dug deep into my back. "I'm sorry!" He repeated, this time weeping.
"Hey, what's wrong?" I cooed while wrapping my arms around him. I knew that if I tried to push him away, it'll make things worse for him. That seemed to confuse him. He stopped gradually, his grip loosening up, his breathing became heavy but balanced. He held my shoulders and pushed me until we were at arm's length.
"What do you mean?" He echoed, his voice still recovering. "You don't remember?" He furrowed his eyebrows when I shook my head.
"What am I supposed to remember?" I asked, pushing his palms off my shoulders.
"I tried to... kill you." He implied, running a hand through his hair. "Not now, in previous resurrections." He explained and pulled me inside the ambulance when it was ready to leave. "I'll explain later."
