Slowly opening my eyes, I noticed Minjee's dried up tears and her restless sleeping body next to mine. After what we had witnessed yesterday, there is no way we could erase it from our memories. It was forever impeded in the back of our mind, like a constant nightmare, never able to wake up. Another thing I couldn't erase from my memory is Chiwon's face. Minjee said she saw him too, but she started doubting if it were really him. It wasn't easy for her especially after she was the one that had to held his dying hand day after day.
"Yoongs?" Minjee mumbled, her eyes still closed. A single tear ran down her cheek and fell on the pillow. I extended my arm and wiped the trail away, leaving my hand on her cheek. She put her hand on top of mine and moved closer to my body.
"Yeah?" I gently whispered, my thumb caressing her cheek. It broke me to see her in such pain. No matter what Hobi did to us, he was still our friend.
"Let's reset it." She firmly said and opened her eyes, determination fired up inside her eyes.
"What?" I confusingly asked, trying to push away the thought of the game away from my mind. This is the last thing I want to think about after what just happened.
"The game. Let's reset it and save Hoseok." She muttered and turned around to grab her phone. The moment the screen lit up, I could see the missed calls from her parents and friends, but she choose to ignore them completely. She pressed the icon for the game and it opened immediately, revealing a screen we hadn't seen before.
There was no other option but to accept Hoseok's voice massage. The only thing I worried about was if Minjee could handle it.
"Accept it." I urged her on and she hesitantly pressed the screen.
"Hey guys." Hoseok's voice spoke from the speaker and Minjee's hand flew to her mouth, trying to suppress a sob. "I'm dead, aren't I?" He jabbered, making me wonder how did he sound so happy when he was talking about his own death. "I guess I am if this massage reached your ears. Remind me to thank Chiwon late-... Please thank Chiwon from me." He corrected himself, chuckling as if he just said a lame joke. "Yoongi," he began, his voice suddenly serious. "I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I'm sorry!" He cried into the phone, sending daggers to my heart with every single apology that followed. "I'm sorry." He bawled. "It was never my intention for things to go so badly, Chiwon and I... Chiwon and I played with the game separately, sometimes messing up your choices and leading all of you to choose the impossible. We're really sorry, I promised I won't mess the game again, but I got to greedy and things went to hell. I'm really sorry." It got silent for a bit until we beard him deem sigh, his cheerful voice back again. "Minjee? I'm not asking you to forgive me, all I wanted is for you to be happy and I realised that I'm the last person who could give that to you. To be honest, I envied Yoongi for being able to give you just that and I thought that if I replaced him, I could also gone it to you, but I guess I couldn't." He explained and a chuckle escaped him, though it was filled with sorrow rather than happiness. "Goodbye!" Hoseok laughed and nothing followed after that, leaving both of us to drown in our tears.
"Reset it." I insisted and looked at Minjee with fiery eyes. "Reset it so we can save him."
