"What. Are. Those." He seethed out.
My eyes flickered downward, instinctively pulling the shirt down as far as it could stretch. I looked back at him and he was staring straight at me, clearly expecting an answer I wasn't ready to give.
He moved closer, on reflex I backed up and reentered the bathroom, he followed suit as he took large steps towards me.
I kept my distance, sticking my arms out in front of me, backing away from him as fast and as safe as I could, keeping that steely eye contact, he kept moving closer.
Closer and closer until my legs suddenly hit the edge of the bathtub, the impact caused me to stumble backward and start to flail into the tub. I closed my eyes braced myself for the fall but it never came.
I gasped as I opened my eyes to see Lucas centimeters away from my face, his hair splayed messily over his eyes. He had both of his strong arms wrapped on my waist, preventing my fall.
His eyes weren't on mine though, they were fixated on my stomach, the shirt lifted when Lucas caught me before my fall.
Oh no.
I tried pushing him off me. But he wouldn't budge, instead, he lifted the shirt more and tears immediately sprung to my eyes.
"Stop!" I screeched but to no avail.
My heart was thumping against my chest and I was sure it could be audibly heard. I clawed his arms trying anything in my power to get him off and away from me, no matter how much my body craved his touch.
His thumbed rubbed over the marred flesh of my stomach, and I choked on air. "Is this what you meant by the things he's done to you?" Lucas asked his voice containing the smallest hint of anger.
"Let me go." I demanded as I thrashed in his hold.
Lucas' jaw clenched, "Answer me, Dawn." He stared right into my eyes, his thumb retracted and I could no longer feel his touch on my bare skin.
I stayed mute. Not answering him as I looked anywhere but his eyes scared that they would convince me to spill my darkest secrets.
"I swear Dawn if you don't answer me I will go down to the dungeons and gut him alive." He threatened.
My body immediately loosened as those words fell from his mouth. He would kill someone?
What I said next was not to save that monster, but rather myself. He said that so casually, how could anyone threaten to take a life so easily. "He didn't," I said truthfully, my mangled scars were the work of my father. "I did them to myself." I lied to him, straight out my teeth.
His brows furrowed in confusion. He let go of me and took a step back, giving me the breathing space I so desired.
"Then what did he do to you?" He asked not backing down from the subject, "You told me he did something to you."
My eyes were fixated on the tile floor in front of me. "N-nothing." I whispered.
"Bullshit." He scoffed, he put his hands on his hips as he looked me over. "Dawn, what did he do."
I kept my silence. He groaned and brought up his hand, to push his hair back. An action I mistook for a hand being raised to slap me, I visibly flinched.
His hand froze while it was tangled in his hair, he brought his hand down and looked at it before he looked back at me. He stepped closer and I sucked in a breath, taking that half step back again.
"Do you still fear me?" He asked with concern.
"I- I just want to go home." I responded, not answering his question.
He pinched the bridge of his nose before he chuckled. "Not only did I get a human for a mate, but I had to get one who's afraid of me."
It was true, I feared him. But there wasn't a single person in this world who I didn't fear, even Mandy.
He brought his hand to my cheek, trying to cup it, but I just flinched away. His hand remained in the air for a second before he dropped it down.
"Please don't touch me." I pleaded. My eyes still not leaving the tile flooring.
I heard him groan, "Unbelievable..."
"I want to go back home." I stated, no longer did I want to stay here. The man who raped me was only a staircase away, and a beast who claimed to be my soulmate right in front of me.
"Dawn I will not hurt you, understand that, please."
"I need to go back to my home." I said with confidence, choosing to ignore his probable lie.
He rubbed his face in frustration, "Dawn... trust me when I say I will not hur-"
"PLEASE." I finally yelled, interrupting him mid-sentence. "I DON'T WANT TO BE NEAR YOU." I told him.
Shock was evident in his face, I watched his eyes flicker from my own go from hurt to them hardening. "You don't want to be near me?"
I nodded, finally looking back into his coal eyes.
"I am your mate!" He yelled.
"And I don't care!" I screamed back. "I don't want to be here and I don't want you near me you- you- you beast!" I roared.
This man if you would even call this animal that, was holding me hostage, claiming to be my soulmate, and trying to open my past up.
His face contorted into a look of anger, his calm facade was long gone as he looked down at me with pure rage, I gulped slightly as I registered what I had said to him.
You fucking idiot Dawn...
He stood staring at me, his chest heaving with anger as I saw his wolf trying to break free. But his wolf never made it out. And after four minutes of silence, he spoke.
"Fine." He said. "I will not come near you, I will give you the space you so clearly want, but you are not leaving. Not under any circumstances will you leave this property or there will be dire consequences. You understand me darling?" He grabbed me once again, pulling me to him at lightning speed. My chest hitting his and effectively knocking the air out of my lungs. He leaned in next to my ear and whispered.
"You do not want to test my fury."
And with that he let go, causing me to stumble and fall into the tub he saved me from falling into before, he turned on his heel and was gone in less than a second. Leaving me alone to mull over his words.
