"Good morning,  Alpha." Mrs. Ross said I watched as her eyes darted back and forth between the guards.

I raised my hands and gestured them away. They complied and so it was just the three of us. "Mrs. Ross, please come in." I told her, moving to the side and granting her entry indoors.

I pulled Zeke to the side as he watched Mrs. Ross his eyes seemed to be dis-trustingly glaring at her. "Zeke, will you go meet up with the guards to find out anything they've discovered?"

He broke his icy gaze from her, turning his head toward me. "You got it." He opened the door and walked out, I started walking towards Mrs. Ross when Zeke mind linked me.

'I don't trust her, be wary of her, Lucas.'

I looked her over, she seemed to be impatient. Something did seem off with her, 'Alright' I replied to him through the mind link.

"Right this way." I came up behind her, a curt smile on my face as I pointed towards the formal living room. I usually would talk to the pack in my study but... due to the circumstances of that room- I would decide against it.

We walked to the formal living room, I rubbed my eyes as I struggled to keep my eyes open. Upon entering she stood up, clutching her bag to her stomach. I made my way to a seat in front of her and then she sat down.

"How are you today Mrs. Ross?" I asked, sitting up straight.

She snapped her head to look me in the eye. "Oh-me, well. I'm doing wonderful, and yourself?"

I laughed, "Calm down Mrs. Ross, this isn't an interrogation" I watched as she let her guard down after I said that. "So what exactly were you doing out in the forest. I passed a law that went effective last night that no one is allowed to roam about in the woods." I said, staring her right in her eyes. "Especially since..." I trailed off.

"Well, Alpha. It's just I know how close you were with the Luna- how close anyone can be with their own mate. I thought I could help out and look for Dawn..." She said, twiddling the fabric of her skirt in her fingers,

I narrowed my eyes, she seemed anxious. "There's no need for that, we have people who are trained for this, out looking for Dawn. I wouldn't want whoever took her to abduct you either."

"Oh." She smiled, "I understand your concern, I won't go looking for her anymore." She nodded. "But how have you been holding up Alpha?" She added after a tad bit of silence.

I sighed, my posture slackening. "I've had better days."

"You look like you haven't been sleeping, that can't be good." She noted, taking in the bags under my eyes, and the scruff that had grown out on my face.

I laughed humorlessly, "I can't sleep with the thought of not knowing if she's alright."

"You must care for her, tremendously." She whispered.

I nodded at her words, "Everything was going so great between us, you know? I thought that maybe finally the life I always dreamed of was in my grasps, a wonderful, beautiful, smart mate. A nice home, maybe even pups one day if she was okay with that." I laughed, unshed tears pooling in my eyes. "I just-" I put my head down, unable to finish my sentence. "Sorry, I didn't mean to ramble."

"Alpha I-" I glanced up at her, "I-"

     I furrowed my eyebrows. "Yes?"

Her face changed, "If I come to know anything about her whereabouts, you'll only be a mindlink away." She smiled.
