An easy two months had flown by since Lucas and I's last meaningful encounter, I didn't want it to but we both had gotten uncomfortable around each other now. Of course, we would say hello whenever we saw each other, goodbye and goodnight. I don't know, just after that day, He was never around. Always working, stressfully working.

Zeke was tagged alongside with him also, working together for all hours of the day. I doubt that either of them got much sleep, the dark circles under their eyes told me more than what they would both say to me.

Mandy and Penny had left a week after Mrs. Ross had interrupted us, both of them went off on a vacation to somewhere in Greece. Claiming that they wanted to live their own lives for a while.

So most days- not even most days, all the time. It was just me by myself. So I got familiar with the castle, I'm pretty sure I knew where everything was.

Currently, it was almost midnight and I was sitting up on my bed reading a book. I quickly got tired, since that was mainly all I did and set the book down to see the digital clock read 12:00 am.

Once seeing the bright red numbers I sighed, my birthday was over. I set the book down on my nightstand getting up and off the bed, stretching my tired limbs as I had been sitting all day.

I didn't really like celebrating my birthday, last time I celebrated was the year before my mother died. And since then I just let it pass by like a normal day. I didn't dare tell anyone about my birthday either, for more than one reason. One, I didn't want to. Two, I didn't think it would look nice to celebrate my birthday after all the pack went through. Three, if I'm going to be honest- I was still rattled by Lucas' birthday and what events transpired there, and the thought of celebrating it made me shake in fear.

I opened my door, the light from the room spilling out into the dark hallway. I shut it quietly, before walking down the steps towards the kitchen.

Quickly making my way there to grab a quick drink to nourish my parched throat, I didn't expect to see Lucas sitting down by the island. I quietly walked closer to him, my eyebrows furrowed as I thought of why he could be down here.

Upon getting closer, I noticed the putrid stench of alcohol. I scrunched my nose quickly- the smell awaking bad memories.

Lucas' hair was splayed out on top of his head like a bird nest and his hand covered his face while the bottle lay empty in front of him.

I gulped slightly before speaking. "Lucas...?" I tried to mask the fear and uneasiness but to no avail, he would've had to be deaf to not of heard the wavering tone of it.

He dropped his hands, swiveling on the chair and faced me. I had to bite back a gasp at seeing his current state. His skin looked sickly, his hair messy and the dark circles appeared darker with the added addition of his red bloodshot eyes.

"Dawn?... What'er you doing awake?" He slurred out, causing me to take a step further away from him. Something that went unnoticed by him.

My heart started pounding in fear, I didn't trust drunk people.

"Just came to get some water." I whispered.

His eyes found mine, and I saw the sadness in them. "You're still scared of me?"

"Not sober you. I've just never met drunk you." I could feel my heart in my throat now.

"Oh." He hiccuped, before turning on his chair. "Nothing to worry about, Zeke tells me I'm a funny drunk."
