I updated earlier today, make sure you've read that chapter before this!

Lucas' POV:

I was out trekking in the woods, with Zeke by my side as we scavenged, not leaving a single stone unturned. The sound of twigs breaking and leaves crunching were the only things we both heard, neither of us said anything to each- too engrossed at the task at hand.

"This is the last bit of the forest that's left to look at." Zeke cut the silence, his eyes soft as they roamed everywhere. "The warriors are nearby, looking at a different part of it."

I just nodded at his words, as we stepped onto a large rock. I overlooked the trees down below, the amount of danger that could be lurking around here.

"We will find her Lucas." Zeke said, I turned to face him my face covered by an emotionless mask. "I'll make sure of it, I promise."

"I hope you can live up to that promise." Was all I said, He clapped my back in response, I pulled back and saw the sorrow swimming in his eyes. "I don't know if I said it before but..." I trailed off, not looking Zeke in the eye. "I am sorry about Amareya."

He clamped his eyes shut, but smiled at me nonetheless. His hand hit my shoulder where it rested for a bit. "What happened to my mate, will not happen to yours. I swear it."

I sighed out, blinking back my tears. My eyes stung in the cold winter air and tears would undoubtedly delay the search. We continued looking, to see if there was anything out of the ordinary, when a pungent smell wafted its way towards my nose. I quickly scrunched it and turned to see Zeke doing the same, he even went to the extent of pinching his nose closed.

"What the hell is that smell?" I whispered, holding back the bile that was threatening to show up.

Zeke opened his mouth to speak but he was cut off when I heard someone open up the mindlink.

"Alpha." I heard a female warrior call out, "We found something..."

If it wasnt for Zekes eyes widening I wouldn't have known that my eyes had shifted to their onyx state.

"Where are you?" I demanded, yelling into the mindlink.

She immediately notified me of her position, and I couldn't hold back at the wolf clawing away at my inside.

And I let him out.

It took less than a mere few seconds for me to entirely shift, taking longer than it did in the past- due to me rarely ever having to shift.

I set my paws onto the ground, the brown fur surprised me as I realized how long it had been that I forgot my fur color, I dashed in the direction of the warriors. The world moving by as a blur as red cloud my vision. I dodged trees at lightning speeds, my paws hit the ground behind me with the force of a wild horse. The snow and rocks being kicked up in the air behind me as my mind was focused on one thing. And one thing only.

Finding my mate.

The run lasted longer than I had hoped for it, the smell of death getting more and more vivid as my sense of smell had increased drastically. But along that smell of horrid death, I smelled something sweet. The smell that I associated with Dawn. This further contributed in me flying past the trees and finally at the circle that the warriors made around a slump. I shifted as I joined them, in the peripheral of my vision I saw a read piece of fabric being huddled towards me. I caught it without so much of a glance and put on the shorts.
