I soon woke up to sirens and flashing blue and red lights. I looked around the room it was dark and there was no James in sight.I saw some neighbors gathered up by a house. It was my house! I stood at the window still rubbing my eyes to find my dad getting into a police car with handcuffs. I panicked. James was standing talking to an officer. I quickly ran downstairs and shut the door. Thoughts were racing through my head on what just happened. I sprinted up to James.

"What happened!? What is all of this?" I hollered still trying to catch my breath

"Let's just say we got into an argument and now he is going away for some time." he said with a straight face

"What do you mean? I'm so confused. James just tell me what happened!" I replied losing my patience

He pulled me aside.

"Catherine, I came over here to teach your dad to never lay a finger on you again. I remembered what you told me about how he slapped you and I wasn't going to let it go. My dad did that to my family and I wasn't going to let it happen to you." he stated with a stern voice

I looked at him knowing he wanted to do the right thing. I gave him a hug and ran to the police car my dad was in. I looked inside and saw his face bloody and beaten up. I gasped.

I walked back to James with tears streaming down my cheek.

"I didn't want it to go this far. I mean he is not the best father and he might not show his love but he is still my father and nothing can change that!" I managed to say with a shaky voice

He opened my arms and I walked in.

"I'm sorry baby doll, I just wanted him to get taught he can't just mess with people and get away with it. Life comes with consequences." he replied looking into my eyes

I hugged him tighter telling him I forgave him. Just then a police officer tapped me on the shoulder and pulled me aside to ask me questions about my dad. I answered them all truthfully getting teary eyed answering them but James stood by my side and hugged me when he knew I was about to cry. Once the questioning was done the police officer nodded and walked away. I looked back and saw my dad leaving in the police car. My heart kind of felt heart broken even after what he did. He was going to jail for child abuse.
