I looked behind me to see my incredibly handsome fiancé James.
"James don't scare me like that ever again." I said with a bit of anger & relief in my voice while I was hit him on the shoulder
I took a deep breath. He grabbed my hand and led me to a big rock. We sat there looking into the distance.
"Good things come to people who wait." I remembered my mom always telling me
•FlashBack•
I grabbed my backpack and bit into my last piece of pizza. I was at my grandma's house because I used to go there afterschool while my mom was away at her job.
She would pick me up at night. Probably like at 8:00 pm. I was only 9, and in my eyes my mom was the best person alive.
I got up from the dining table and hugged my grandma 'bye'.
"Bye Bye NaNa, I love you so much!" I said hugging her tight and kissed her cheek
"Bye Cathers, be good." she said scolding me
I nodded my head and walked out. My mom and grandma both exchanged their 'goodbyes' and a little small talk. We both got into the car. I sat in the front.
"Honey, you know you have to sit in the back it's not safe up here." She warned me
My mom was all about safety and she was wise.
"Ugh." I groaned and moved to the back seat and buckled myself in
She got buckled in too. We started driving while it started pouring rain & lighting. Lighting always scared me. Plus we were on the highway.
"Did you finish you homework baby girl?" she asked
"Yes mommy." I replied
"Okay, can you hand me my purse back there? My phone is in it." She questioned
I looked at the seat beside me. I grabbed the purse but struggled to hand it to her because of my short arms. I kept reaching and she looked back at me and tried to reach her hand back. The distance was a lot since we were in a mini van and I was all the way in the back.
The rain somehow seemed to get stronger making it hard to see what was in front of the car. I kept trying to reach to her and she looked back one last time.
She then looked ahead again and our car collided with another car. I flew forward and I heard a blood curdling scream before everything in my sight started getting dark. My eyes flutter and closed.
I woke up in a white room. My vision was really blurry and I heard a monitor beeping and voices talking in the background. I slowly pulled myself up and immediately felt my head having a horrible headache.
I touched my head and felt bandages all around it. I saw the tubes connected to me and I decide to see if I was hurt anywhere else on my body. I lifted up my blanket to see a cast and boot on my leg. I was really scared. What happened to my mom!?
A nurse and doctor came in they heard my screams and came rushing in.
"What is it sweetie?" The nurse asked with a calming voice
"Where's my mom!? I want my mommy!" I shouted being very panicked
"It's okay, your mom is in the other room. You'll see her tomorrow. For now, get some rest." she said and tucked me in and closed the door behind her
