Chapter 39

Thapki was sitting in her room, flipping the pages of a fashion magazine. She was waiting for Bihaan to come home as he has gone out for some work. It was raining heavily. Thapki looked at the wall clock which was showing the time to be 10:30 pm. Suddenly the electricity went out and the room became pitch dark. Thapki got very nervous but then some one knocked on the door and Thapki slowly started moving towards it. She could not see properly in the dark. After some struggle she reached the door and opened it. Her eyes were unable to see anything due to the darkness but suddenly someone grabbed her arm and covered her mouth with a hand. She wanted to scream but the grip was so tight that she could not even breath properly. She struggled but could not get herself free from the tight grip. She was getting out of breath when her eyes suddenly opened and she looked around. She was in her bed panting badly... So it was just a dream... a bad one or she must call it a nightmare. She looked at the wall clock and realised that it was only 8:15 pm. She touched her face which had become all sweaty. She picked up her cell phone and looked at the screen. The screen showed her no messages. She thought abt it for a second but then called Bihaan's number. After few bells, Bihaan received the call.

Bihaan: "Hey Thapli... How r u? U did not call me today? I guess u have stopped missing me now"

Bihaan chuckled in the end which clearly indicated that he was joking. But he got really worried when he heard Thapki's sobs.

Bihaan: "Thapki, R u alright? Y r u crying? Wat's wrong? R u hurt?"

Thapki (still sobbing): "Bihaan please come soon"

Bihaan: "Yes I will but first tell me why r u crying?"

Thapki: "I am scared"

Bihaan: "Scared of wat?"

Thapki: "I just had a bad dream and I am alone and I am scared and I am missing u... It is already a week now that u have gone to Delhi... U promised me that u will return in 4-5 days but still u have not returned"

Bihaan: "I am missing u too Thapki but I could not avoid this work as it was very important. Sheena is not here and in her absence I am the one who is in charge. Plus as the software was designed by me so I had to install it myself. But it seems there is a major bug so it is taking us this much time to get everything in place but don't worry I will be back in 2-3 days"

Thapki: "2-3 days more???"

Bihaan: "I am so sorry Thapki. But don't worry u r safe at home. And if u r really scared then y don't u go and sleep with Dadi?"

Thapki: "No I am okay here. But please come back soon"

Thapki felt shy in telling him how she feels close to him by sleeping on his side of bed, inhaling his body perfume coming from his pillow.

Bihaan: "Yes I will. And u take care. Oh and yes tomorrow is ur checkup with the doctor. I will ask some one to take u to her. Okay"

Thapki: "But..."

Bihaan: "No ifs and buts. Do as i say okay"

Thapki agreed and then ended the call after saying good byes to each other.

Thapki took shower and came out of the bathroom. She found Suman sitting on the sofa of her room.

Thapki: "Suman Bhabi... When did u come?"

Suman: "When Bihaan Devar ji called me to make sure u were alright"
