Chapter 59

 Thapki did not like the panic and disappointment in Bihaan's voice over the news of Sheena's marriage. She without saying anything left Dadi's room and sped up to hers. She sat on the bed and started crying. Lately she had been feeling very strange and miserable. The urge of crying over small small things had suddenly increased. She could have continued crying but then she had a feeling of throwing up and she rushed to the washroom. After struggling with her sickness, she opened the tap and washed her face. The splash of cold water on her face made her feel gud. She closed the tap and came out. As soon as she stepped into the room, she noticed Bihaan closing the bedroom door. He turned back and looked at Thapki. She looked pale and sick. His heart sank. He with fast steps approached her and brought her to the bed. He forcefully made her lay in the bed and sat beside her. Thapki was unable to understand this sudden change in Bihaan's behavior. He took the glass of water from her side table and made her drink some water. This sudden caring side of Bihaan's brought tears to Thapki's eyes.

Bihaan: "Y r u crying Thapki?"

Thapki: "Where have u been Bihaan?"

Bihaan(understanding wat she meant): "I was.... Does not matter.. I am here now"

Thapki: "Stay with me plz I need u. Ur absence makes me weak"

Bihaan: "Don't fall weak. I want u to be strong.... More than ever"

Thapki: "But without u I m nthg. The last few days when u...."

Tears started falling down her eyes. Bihaan wiped off her tears and hugged her.

Bihaan: "I am going to take some decision and I need ur support in that. I don't want u to think bad abt me. Plz promise me"

Thapki broke the hug and looked at his face. She tried to figure out wat he was thinking but the toughness on his face did not let her get any idea. He saw the worry on her face so cupped her face in his hands.

Bihaan: "Trust me Thapki... Watever I am going to do is not easy... But I have to end it... for me... for us"

Thapki: "End wat Bihaan?"

Bihaan: "I want to tell u everything but plz give me lil more time. U will find out everything. Now tell me how is ur arm"

Before Thapki could reply, some one knocked on the door in a hurry. Bihaan stood up and rushed to the door. As soon as he opened the door, Suman appeared with a worried look.

Suman: "Bihaan hurry up we need to take Preeti to the hospital"

Bihaan: "Hospital but y?"

Suman: "It seems she is going to deliver the baby two weeks early"

Both Thapki and Bihaan left the room in a hurry.

The next few hours of having joy of seeing Preeti and Ashwin's son for the first time and attending Kiran's reception seemed to be a dream. Thapki did not want to leave the hospital but Preeti and Ashwin asked them to leave as Kiran's reception could also not be missed. But Thapki's mind was still occupied by the images of the cute lil baby. The happiness on Preeti and Ashwin's face could not do the justice to wat they were feeling. She wanted to hold the baby but the baby was in the hospital. Preeti had to stay in hospital for one night and Thapki could not wait to welcome Preeti and the new baby in PN. When Bihaan came into the bedroom to sleep, he noticed Thapki making a list.

Bihaan: "Wat r u doing Thapki? U must be tired after such a hectic day. Go to sleep"

Thapki: "I am not sleepy. I am making a list of all the things that u need to bring"

After saying that, she put the pen down and looked at the list one more time. She then handed it to Bihaan.

Thapki: "Please bring all this first thing in the morning as I will have very less time to make arrangements. But I will manage"

She did not wait for Bihaan's reply and left the room. Bihaan knew that she would not rest until she has arranged everything. Knowing Sunan would be there to help, he hit the bed and instantly dozed off.

The next morning, Thapki did not let Bihaan sleep until he went to market and bought everything on her list. Only then he went back to bed and Thapki along with others decorated the home and prepared special food for Preeti.

Bihaan himself went and brought Ashwin, Preeti and the baby home. Thapki got ready with the pooja thali but it was Vasu who asked Shradha to do the aarti and welcome the new baby home. When Bau Ji tried to interrupt, she argued that this might be a good omen for Shradha as she herself is pregnant and welcoming a baby boy home might also bless her with a baby boy. Thapki who had been so excited for this felt heart broken but she happily handed the thali to Shradha. Shradha however did not miss the chance to taunt her for not been able to conceive yet. Thapki looked around but no one seemed to have noticed this.

Thapki silently stood near the door whereas Shradha did the aarti. The sadness on Thapki's face did not go unnoticed by Bihaan. Shradha asked Preeti to enter the house and got ready to hold the baby but Preeti turned towards Thapki and made her hold the baby.

Preeti: "U were dying to hold the baby since yesterday so I had decided that u will be the first one to hold him after his parents. I did not even let Bihaan Devar Ji to hold him though he himself was very scared of holding a baby this small"

Ashwin: "Yes Bihaan u were so scared. Seriously how will u hold ur own baby"

The mention of their baby made Thapki go pale. She slowly kissed the baby's forehead and handed him back to Preeti. She asked everyone to settle down and left for the kitchen to bring the tea.

When Bihaan entered the kitchen, Thapki was slowly crying.

Bihaan: "Wat happened Thapki? Y r u crying?"

Thapki: "No nthg. I am just.... I just got emotional seeing Preeti Bhabhi with the baby. She had waited too long for him"

Bihaan held Thapki by her arm and brought het closer. He looked at her face and then hugged her. He held her like this for few minutes but when they heard foot steps, he let her go.

Sheena entered the kitchen and looked at the two.

Sheena: "Sorry guys I was not expecting u two to be here like this. I was here to help Thapki"

Bihaan: "Where is Kabir?"

Sheena: "He is outside with the baby"

Bihaan left as he needed to have an important conversation with him.

Everyone had gathered in the lounge and as the baby and the mother had been taken to their room, the topic had now shifted to Sheena and Kabir's wedding. Sheena's father had arranged a grand wedding and he wanted Pandeys to participate just like a family. Vasu promised Sheena that they will all participate whole heartedly as not only her but Kabir is also like their son. The happiness on Sheena's face confused Thapki. She was not interested in the conversation any more so she excused herself and walked towards her room. On her way, she heard Bihaan's voice coming from the guest room. Curious, she walked and was abt to enter the room when she saw Bihaan standing with Kabir.

Bihaan: "I am relying on u for this. Plz do not disappoint me"

She saw Kabir nodding. She realised that they had not noticed her yet. She quietly walked away and entered her room.

Thapki was busy in her phone when Bihaan entered their room. He looked at her but did not say anything. It was Thapki who started the conversation.

Thapki: "Did Sheena and Kabir leave?"

Bihaan: "Don't know. Haven't seen them since hours"

Thapki looked at Bihaan's face to figure out why he was lying as she had seen the two together few minutes ago. Whereas Bihaan came and lay down in bed. He turned his back towards Thapki. The last thought in his mind before going to sleep was how he wanted to tell her the truth but how he could not. All he knew was watever he was doing was better for all of them.
