Rayna took her first breath in four hours, rather violently.
She shot up, seeing that it was dark.
"Where am I?" She asked.
"Oh my God... We thought you'd never wake up." Elijah gasped, taking a deep breath.
"I didn't think my blood got into your system fast enough." Niklaus sighed, hugging her tightly.
"What do you mean?" Rayna asked, rubbing her chest where the arrow had once been.
"Rayna... Don't be angry... But Niklaus gave you his blood too late, you were already too far gone..." Elijah tried to explain carefully.
"Wait... Did I...? Am I a-"
"Vampire... Yes." Niklaus finished for her.
"Well... You're in transition. You need to feed on human blood before nightfall tomorrow." Elijah explained.
"Or you'll die..." Niklaus finished.
Rayna couldn't believe what she was hearing.
She couldn't be a Vampire... She was a Witch... That's how it was supposed to be.
"But I... Oh God..." She started to panic, not knowing what to do or think was new to her and she didn't like it.
"We gathered some blood from the archers back there, so you can feed and fully transition." Niklaus said, handing her a cup.
"I don't want to die..." Rayna sobbed.
"Then you need to drink, my dear." Elijah winced, seeing her in pain was worse than being in pain, himself.
Rayna took the cup of blood with a quivering hand and put it to her lips.
The blood smelled repulsive, but at the same time, it was like something in her mind was telling her that the blood would be the only thing to make her feel better.
She drank...

"How do you feel, love?" Niklaus asked her.
She didn't say anything. She was too caught up in her emotions, she was so scared.
"Rayna... Please answer us." Elijah's voice came.
Neither of the Original Vampires dared go near her because of her emotions. She was scared when she turned, she'd be terrified now.
And she was...
Rayna looked up at the two brothers.
"Why do I feel like this?" She asked, her voice quaking.
"You're a Vampire, Rayna." Niklaus said again, gently.
Rayna didn't know what to think.
She began to hyperventilate, the shock setting in fully.
The brothers came to her side, knowing what she was going through.
"Rayna, it'll be alright. You just need to breathe, okay?" Elijah whispered.
The girl looked between the brothers, gazing straight into their eyes.
She began to calm down, seeing the calmness in her boys.
She took a few deep breaths and closed her eyes.
"I'm okay..." She breathed eventually, repeating those words over and over until she began to believe it.

They returned to their town the next morning.
Rayna, still adjusting to all the new sounds, smells and sights unfolding before her, waited for one of her guardian's servants to open the door and escort her and the brothers to the Earl and his Lady.
"Hamish." Rayna sighed at the sight of them as the servant opened the door.
"My dear, come in. I was just on my way to a meeting with the council." She ran to her ward who allowed her to fall into his arms.
Elijah and Niklaus looked to each other, trying to silently map out all of the possibilities.
"I'm glad you returned safely. But Lord Niklaus. You said a week. We were expecting you back yesterday." Earl Hamish said, hugging his ward close.
"My apologies, Hamish. We had a small hiccup on the way back, but I can promise you, all is well now." Niklaus assured him.
Rayna hugged her guardian as they made their way to the hall, but she couldn't ignore his heartbeat. The sound of his blood pulsing through his neck as she hugged herself against it.
She felt her fangs unleash, the feeling of her veins popping out under her eyes told her this wouldn't be good, but she couldn't resist.
She sunk her fangs into Hamish's Carotid artery, sucking out the now delicious, warm red liquid.
"Rayna... What are you... Stop!" Hamish cried.
"She's one of them..." One of the other men in the room gasped.
Elijah and Niklaus saw the realisation set into the faces of all in the room, particularly Hamish's.
Between them, they sped to each one of the men and snapped their necks, knowing exactly what they were – a council of Vampire hunters.
Rayna felt the life drain from her guardian, but couldn't find the strength to care as the blood lust consumed her.
Hamish's lifeless body fell to the ground with a hard thud, revealing to Rayna a terrified Lady Elizabeth.
"You're a Demon." Elizabeth spat. "We let you into our home; we gave you clothes, food, a bed... You killed my husband..."
Rayna felt the realisation set in.
What had she done?
"Oh my God... Hamish..." She cried, falling to her knees.
She hugged his now lifeless body as her heart broke.
"Get off of him!" Elizabeth choked, running to protect her dead husband.
"Elizabeth... I'm so sorry." Rayna sobbed.
"Rayna, darling..." Niklaus said, carefully. "We need to go."
"No!" Rayna yelled.
As soon as she did, the glass in the windows shattered.
The Original brothers looked between each other in shock.
Rayna still had her magic...

Niklaus grabbed her and Vamp sped upstairs.
"Pack some clothes. We have to get you out of here." He said.
They packed as many things together as possible.
"I've compelled her to think a stranger came in and attacked them. She won't chase it up." Elijah told the two as he walked into Rayna's chambers.
"What about me?" Rayna asked.
Elijah's expression became saddened.
"I had to tell her to forget about you..." He said.
Rayna took a deep breath, but nodded.
Niklaus and Elijah gave each other a look. They both wondered how she was so calm and collected after what she'd just done.

They made their way to the Mikaelson castle.
They packed all of their belongings and collected the servants they knew would come with them.
After gathering horses and carts, everyone left.
"Who's going to take your place as Lord of the town?" Rayna asked Niklaus.
"I've written a letter to Elizabeth. I think she'd be suited and I think she needs as much distraction as possible right now." He replied.
"How are you feeling, Rayna?" Elijah asked.
"I'm not sure I'm ready to answer that yet." She told him, blankly. "How do I still have my magic?"
"We don't know." Elijah answered. "We've never seen it before."

They rode for days until they reached the SouthWest coast of England.
From there, they had a boat made and sailed to the Americas.
