Rayna woke up a few hours later, to the house in total darkness.
She Vamp sped down to the kitchen and grabbed a candle and some sea salt, then made her way to Elijah's room and gently knocked on the door.
A few moments later, it opened, revealing a shirtless Elijah.
"Oh... I'm sorry Elijah; I didn't know what time it was..." Rayna shied away.
"Rayna. What are you doing here?" He asked. "I thought you left."
The Heretic looked around and put her finger to her lips and then to her ear.
Elijah opened his door wider for her to enter, then closed it once she was inside.
Rayna lit the candle and sprinkled some salt into it.
"No prying ears." She said, trying to keep her emotions at bay so she could explain why she was there.
"Rayna, my dear. You need to explain. What happened to you? You never said goodbye after the ball." Elijah asked.
"That's because I never left. Your mother made sure of that by snapping my neck." The Heretic replied.
Elijah's eyes widened slightly.
"She's going to kill you all, Elijah. The toast she made earlier after she spoke with Elena, the champagne had Elena's blood in it. It bound you and your siblings together – one of you dies, you all die. Finn is going to be the sacrifice." She began to get teary-eyed.
Elijah - despite his shock – opened his arms for his love and she came running.
"It'll be alright. As soon as Niklaus and the others hear of this, we'll stop it. I promise." He whispered into her hair.
"I don't want you to die." Rayna cried, resting a hand on his bare chest.
"I'm not going anywhere." He told her.Rayna woke up the next morning to see Elijah gone from his bed.
She looked around, confused, but saw the candle still burning.
She got up and straightened out the button-down shirt Elijah had given her to sleep in that night, then decided it would be best to go before Esther found out that she was still there – and that she'd spoken with Elijah.
She got back into her dress and fixed her hair, then vacated the room.
"Well, well, well. There's our girl." She heard Kol downstairs.
"Get out of my way, Kol." Rebekah growled.
"Out all night, what a scandal!" Kol jeered. "I trust you did better than that commoner. Matt, was it?"
"If you don't shut your mouth, the next thing to come out of it will be your teeth." Rebekah snarled, looking to the Hybrid, who smirked. "Don't you start, Nik!"
"I didn't say anything." Niklaus defended himself.
Rayna didn't quite know what to do. She couldn't leave without being caught.
'I could jump out of Elijah's window...' She thought. 'Bugger it. I'll be proud.'
"I'm bored. Our sister's a strumpet, but at least she's having fun. I need entertainment." Kol pouted as Rayna shamelessly made her way down the stairs.
Niklaus was the first to see her.
"What are you waiting for? Go on, have at it." He smirked as he watched the Heretic.
"What are you still doing here, darling?" Kol asked, standing.
Rebekah and Rayna made eye contact, which wasn't a good idea considering their not-so-recent history.
"Two strumpets under the same roof. This place is practically a brothel." The youngest brother chuckled.
"Difference is, my love, only one of us got laid." Rayna gave a sarcastic smile to the Original sister just as Elijah came down the stairs.
"Still a twenty-first century virgin I hear, Elijah." Kol called, earning himself one of Rayna's heels being thrown at him in Vamp speed.
Rayna looked down at Elijah's hand to see the remnants of Esther's sage in his grasp.
"Come on, Nik. Let's go have some of that fun we were talking about." Kol urged his brother.
"Okay. Why not? I didn't have nearly enough to drink last night, what with you trying to murder Rebekah's date." The Hybrid sighed, getting up from his seat.
"Yes, please go, this house has enough men rolling around it in." Rebekah rolled her eyes as she sat down.
"Just like you, Bekah." Kol winked, earning himself a shoe thrown at him by his sister, that time.
Rayna couldn't help but chuckle.
"What the Hell are you laughing at?" Rebekah spat at her.
"Oh, the shoe. Not you, don't you worry that pretty little Mikaelson-ego-filled head of your's." Rayna smirked.
Rebekah Vamp sped to her in a fit of rage.
"Rebekah..." Elijah sighed.
"Oh, not you too, Elijah..." She huffed as Rayna sat down by the piano.
"I'm worried about mother. Have you not noticed her strange behaviour?"
"She's been dead a thousand years. What's strange for her?" Rebekah scoffed.
"Burnt sage." He replied, handing her the burnt smudge stick. "She was doing a privacy spell."
"You know how she fancies such things. Why don't you ask Finn? He's been doting on her." Rebekah rolled her eyes.
"I don't trust Finn." Elijah said, glancing to Rayna. "He hates what we are, he always has."
"That's not true. And as for mother, she returned for one reason – to make our family whole. She loves us. What trouble are you looking to find?" The sister asked, making Rayna snigger. "What the bloody Hell are you laughing at now, Heretic?"
"Just how naïve and generally stupid you've always been. It's rather comical." The Heretic wiped a fake tear from her eye.
"Ladies, can we at least be civil, please?" Elijah sighed.
"No need. I'm off. I'll see you later, Elijah." Rayna sighed, collecting her other shoe from where Kol had been sat.
Elijah gave her a small smile as she walked out of the door.
"You need to apologise to her." He told his sister.
"Not a chance."
