The spring and summer brushed passed Mystic Falls as though it were nothing.
It was late August and Rayna was about ready to kill Katherine.
She had the Salvatore brothers wrapped around her little finger and that enraged Rayna more than anything she'd done to her.
Rayna was spending the evening with Stefan, as Damon and Katherine had gone for a walk.
Naturally, Rayna was suspicious.
"Stefan, where did Damon and Katherine really go?" She asked the younger brother.
"Katherine only told me it was a walk." He shrugged, sitting back on the couch.
She sighed, leaning toward him, staring into his eyes.
"Tell me, Stefan. Where did they go?" She compelled.
"The road heading North out of town." He replied in monotone.
"Why?" Rayna asked.
"She's teaching Damon how to hunt for blood." Stefan replied.
Rayna sat back in her seat and sighed.
"This isn't good." She mumbled to herself.
Meanwhile, Katherine and Damon had reached the perfect spot in the road.
"I want you to lie down. Right here." Katherine instructed, motioning to the middle of the road.
"Why?" Damon asked.
"Just do it..." Katherine huffed.
Damon did as she asked and they waited for a passing carriage.
When one did, the fun began.
"Please! Please, help us!" Katherine cried out, causing the carriage to pull to a halt.
Katherine ran up to it as it stopped.
"Please, my husband, he's been hurt! Please help him!" She sobbed.
The driver jumped down from his seat, examining Damon just as the carriage's passenger exited the car.
"What are you doing out here in the middle of the night?" He asked. "It's not safe."
Katherine turned to him and smirked. "No. No, sir. It's not safe."
She bore her fangs and ran at him, sinking her teeth into his neck.
The man screamed as she drained him of blood, grabbing the attention of the driver.
He saw his passenger's corpse splayed out across the road, but Katherine was nowhere in sight. He looked back to Damon with fear, but Katherine appeared right in front of him. Once more, she revealed her fangs as her eyes almost glowed red in the moonlight. She sunk her teeth into the driver's neck, releasing a blood-curdling scream from him and within seconds, he was dead and she released him from her grasp.
"And that's how it's done." She smiled as she turned to Damon, blood dripping from her chin.
Damon got up, observing the two bodies he was partially responsible for.
"What happens to the bodies?" He asked.
"Well," Katherine began. "I'll take them into the woods and the other animals will finish them off.
She noticed how frightened he seemed and sighed.
"Are you sure you're ready for this?" She asked.
Damon nodded. "I'm ready. I want you to turn me."
"When it's time. Kiss me." Katherine told him.
Damon pulled the handkerchief from his pocket and walked towards her, going to wipe the blood from her lips.
Katherine grabbed his hand, taking the handkerchief from him.
"You should get a taste." She smirked, moving in to kiss him.
Damon moved away, repulsed by the thought of the blood's taste.
"Sorry..." He mumbled.
"Don't be." Katherine sighed. "Soon you won't be able to get enough."
Damon hesitated, but moved back in, kissing her with an undeniable passion.
As he parted from her, she wiped the blood from his chin with her thumb, before sucking the blood away.
As the pair were about to walk back, Rayna came out from the trees.
"What the Hell do you think you're doing?" She spat.
"Teaching Damon about the wonderful world of Vampirism." Katherine smirked.
"You're not going to turn him." Rayna stood her ground a few feet away from them.
"Well of course I'm not. Not yet, anyway." Katherine chuckled.
Damon gave Rayna a confused look.
"How do you know about Vampires?" He asked.
Rayna sighed. She knew this day would come.
Fuelled by the smell of the blood, she bore her fangs, causing Damon to take a few staggered steps back in fear.
"That's how." Katherine replied.
Damon looked between the two girls.
"You knew about her?" He asked the younger Vampire.
"Of course I did. Two hundred years ago, we were lovers. Isn't that right, darling?" Katherine smirked.
Rayna simply glared at her.
"I loved you. You just used me." She spat.
"What can I say? I'm a survivor."
Back at the Salvatore house, Stefan had gone to bed under Rayna's compulsion.
When Katherine, Damon and Rayna returned, they sat in a rather awkward silence in the sitting room, Emily quietly hovering behind them all.
"Does Stefan know?" Damon asked Rayna, eventually.
Rayna looked up from the slight trance she'd put herself in, feeling the energy Emily was letting off – she was a witch...
"Of course he doesn't. He couldn't even take Katherine being a Vampire. She had to compel him to love her." Rayna scoffed.
"What can I say? I know what I want." Katherine smirked. "But aren't you going to tell your best friend the whole story, Rayna, love?" All Rayna wanted to do was rip her head off.
"One day. I think there's been enough excitement for one night." She snarled.
Damon simply sat there and thought about the entire situation, not exactly knowing how to respond.
"I've had enough of this. I'm going home. I trust you won't kill either of them before tomorrow?" Rayna said as she stood.
"If I wanted them dead, they would be." Katherine chuckled.
Rayna approached Damon, kissing his hair.
"I'll see you in the morning." She whispered.
Damon looked up at her and smiled.
"Goodnight Rayna." He replied.
