It had been a week since Niklaus left, Rebekah with him.
Elijah was growing more and more worried for Rayna. As the days went on, she deteriorated further."Rayna, love. Will you please feed? You haven't since Niklaus left and-"
"Don't say his name." Rayna spat at Elijah as fresh tears swept down her cheeks.
She stood up from her seated position on the window ledge of their bedroom and walked over to the bed.
Elijah sighed, watching her lay down on her side, facing away from him.
The Original placed a goblet of fresh blood down on the table at her bedside and sat next to her.
"Please love. You're not going to make things better by desiccating."
"What's the point in immortality if the people you love aren't there with you?" Rayna sniffed.
Elijah was a hurt by her words, but knew full well that she was hurting more.
"I'm here, my love." He sighed.
"I know... But is it so selfish of me to want more?" She asked, sitting up, wiping her face.
"No, darling. I miss him too. But you watch, soon enough he'll come and find us, hopefully a new, self-discovered man." Elijah smiled, poking the Heretic's nose.
Rayna chuckled humourlessly. "Or a Hybrid." She replied, grabbing the goblet of blood from the table and taking a sip.
"That's my girl." The Original leaned over and kissed her hair as she drank.
"I need more." She gasped, parting her lips from the goblet.
"Don't worry, I'll get you more. You stay put." Elijah said, getting up as he took the goblet from her.
Rayna drank from her fifth goblet and Elijah began to get a little concerned.
"More." She said.
"Rayna, I think you've had enough. You're getting carried away." Her lover replied.
Rayna looked at him with daggers for eyes.
"Get me more, Elijah." She growled. "It's the only thing that's helping the pain."
Elijah was taken aback by her behaviour, but his gaze didn't falter and neither did his posture.
"No, Rayna." He replied as though he were scolding a child.
"Get me more or I'll get some myself, straight from the source." Elijah raised an eyebrow.
"Love, your emotions are everywhere right now. You need to calm down and take some deep breaths. You don't want to go on a rampage. You are not a monster."
In a fit of rage, Rayna screamed as she threw her arm, knocking the candlestick off the bedside table with her magic, not caring to watch as it hit the wall on the opposite side of the room.
I said, get more." Rayna scowled, casting a spell in her mind.
Elijah's head began to feel as though he had been struck by lightning.
His fingers curled into his hair as he fell to his knees in agony.
"Rayna... Please..." He begged.
She stopped her spell, giving Elijah a chance to compose himself.
She realised what she'd done...
She rushed to his side, helping him stand straight.
"Elijah... I'm so sorry... Oh my God, what have I done?" She sobbed.
"Love, it's alright, I promise. Your emotions, remember? You'll become hysterical if you don't calm down." Elijah reassured her, but it was too late.
"I can't do this. It's too much. My head is killing me, I hurt you..." Rayna cowered away, gripping her head.
She fell against the wall, sobbing her heart out as the bricks forced her into a seated position.
Elijah went to her, sitting next to her as he wrapped his arms around her.
"Everything will be alright." He told her in hushed words.
"I can't..." She whispered before looking up at him. "No matter what I may say in the meantime, I love you, Elijah." The Original looked at her, quite confused.
But then she closed her eyes and he realised what she was doing.
"Rayna, no. You can't turn it off. Please, I'm begging you!" He cried, but it was too late.
When her eyes were open again, she looked at him blankly.
"Time for food." She said, simply, then Vamp sped out of the room. Elijah jogged into the dining hall, stopping in his tracks at what he saw.
Rayna was sat in his seat at the far end of the dining table, six or seven bodies pooling at her feet.
"Rayna, love... What have you done?" Elijah gasped.
Rayna pulled her fangs from the last of the group she had gathered.
"I'm feeding, Elijah. What does it look like?" She sighed, wiping her mouth with the pad of her index finger before licking it clean.
"You're going to lose your mind as well as your emotions if you continue this." Elijah replied, moving to sit down next to her, sweeping a couple of the bodies away as he went. "Not to mention you could risk our exposure."
"They know we're here. If they come for us, I'm a Heretic. I'll deal with them." She practically growled, recalling Niklaus' words.
Elijah sighed, frustrated.
Rayna clapped her hands to grab the attention of the maids outside the door.
As soon as two entered, they gasped with fright.
"Come here." Rayna instructed.
Neither of them moved.
"I said come here." She growled.
One of them turned to run, but Rayna intercepted her with Vamp speed.
"Now where do you think you're going?" The Heretic looked into the maid's eyes. "Take these bodies to the cellar and burn them. Then forget this ever happened." Rayna compelled.
The maid nodded and did as told as Rayna did the same for the other maid.
