"Nobody told me that there would be days like this."

~ ❀ ~

For the few hours, Jungwoo had finally made up his mind, to lower his pride down and walk up to Yukhei and talk to him, about their 'issue'. But, as soon as he walked out of their classroom, his courage and well-planned speech had been burned into ashes, when he saw what was happening outside.

A few feet from him, something was happening, something he hated, something he despised. Especially, when it came from the u̸l̸t̸i̸m̸a̸t̸e̸ b̸i̸t̸c̸h̸, oh i mean, from Hayoon. He clenched his fists, and just stared, like every other student did, that was standing in a circle, giving the pair some space.

The more he watched, the more his heart broke, but he couldn't find the reason to leave. Even if his heart was breaking, he didn't have the courage to walk away, because... He was hoping that somehow, Yukhei would just thank her, and look at Jungwoo, and spend the day with him. Too bad, he kept his hopes up too much.

"Happy birthday, Yukhei-oppa." Hayoon smiled brightly, stretching her hands out and giving Yukhei the cake she bought, quite hesitantly.

"Thank you." The male chuckled, running his fingers through his hair and looking at Hayoon, who gestured for the candle on the cake.

"Make a wish, oppa." She smiled once more, Yukhei glanced at her again, before whispering a quick wish, and blowing the candle, making everyone clap.

He looked up, finally, smiling at Hayoon, who was also smiling at him. And at that moment, Jungwoo felt like a glass being shattered, and at that exact moment, he slipped away from the crowd, walking somewhere, somewhere away from them. Away from all the pain.

He found himself sitting down inside the quiet library, it was almost deserted, except for the librarian and some students who were all rushing some paperwork. Jungwoo sat at the farthest table from the door, so no one would see him, hopefully.

And when he sat down, he scanned the whole hall, before his hard shell cracked. At first, it was only silent sniffles, until he was full on bawling his eyes out, he was muffling his sobs with his hands. Hoping, praying, wishing that no one would see him here, that no one would see him in this state.

"Here." Jungwoo looked up quickly, tear stained face on full display as he looked up at the elder, who had his hand stretched out, and it looked like he was giving his handkerchief to the younger. "Go on. It's really sad seeing you like this." The shorter wanted to snap at him, and to make him leave, but that was irrational.

"Thanks." Was his answer, before reaching for the taller's handkerchief, and using it to wipe his tears off, but it still kept on flowing.

"Cry," Hyunjae sighed. "I'll keep you company."

"No, no," Yukhei sighed, waving his hands and shaking his head. "I'm not going, I'll be going with my friends, y'know, bonding?"

"Oh," Hayoon smiled sadly, nodding slowly, and then let go of Yukhei's sleeve. "Later by lunch, then?"

"I already have plans by lunch."

"With who?"

"Jungwoo." And when that name slipped from Yukhei's lips, he thought he saw Hayoon's eye twitch, but the smile on her lips covered that up. "I'll get going now."
