Rosalie looked at the test in her hand. She had it face down and she looked at her watch. Only one minute left and her life could possibly change forever. She thought it was the stress of her job and her father being sick that she had missed her period for the last two months. This would tell her the truth. She watched the seconds go by, which felt like forever. She took in a deep breath and flipped it over. Positive. She let out the breath and covered her mouth. She knew Barney never wanted children. She knew this but yet here she was pregnant with his child. She got off the toilet and wrapped the test in toilet paper before leaving the bathroom. She went to her living room to find Barney.
"Jesus Christ, when did you get here?"
"A few minutes ago. I was getting worried cause you weren't answering your phone." he said picking it up off the coffee table.
"Sorry. Long day." she pocketed the test and looked at him, "ready to go to the bar?"
"Yeah."
Rosalie sat in the booth while Barney went to the bar to get them drinks. She sat across from Robin and the woman looked at her.
"Are you okay, Rose?"
"What? Yeah? Just a lot on my mind with my dad. I'm spending Christmas with my brothers." Barney came over and sat the glass of water Rosalie wanted in front of her.
"Just water?"
"I have a long day tomorrow. I'm going to my dad's tonight." Robin only nodded and Ted came into the bar. He told them about the old voicemail that Lily had heard of Ted calling her a bitch from when he had left Marshall.
"Oh, Ted. Oh, Teddy boy." Robin said.
"Why is this such a big deal? It's just a word. We use lots of words, every day. It shouldn't be any different than any other word."
"Then why don't you say it now?"
"Bitch." Ted said as a waitress walked by, "you timed that didn't you?"
"Perfectly."
"Well, at least you apologized." Ted looked guilty.
"You didn't apologize?" Rosalie asked him.
"Oh, yeah. "I'm sorry" were the first words out of my mouth." he told them about the argument that ensued in the apartment and Rosalie shook her head.
"Ted Vivian Mosby!" Barney said.
"That's not my middle name."
"Do you kiss your mother with that mouth?"
"Like you've never said that word." Ted defended.
"I don't kiss your mother with my mouth. Yet." Barney sneezed.
"Are you sick?" Ted asked.
"Is it sick to find maturity and experience sexy?"
"No, I mean do you have a cold? And you'll just admit in front of your girlfriend that you want to kiss my mother."
"He can kiss whoever as long as he is aware that it would end our relationship the moment he does." Rosalie told him.
"I'm fine. I'm fine. My nose is just overflowing with awesome and I had to get some out of it out. Rose, ready to go to your dads?"
"Are you aren't going if you're sick." he frowned, "I'm serious, Barney. It could make my dad sicker. I'll see you guys later." Rosalie didn't kiss Barney goodbye because she herself didn't want to get sick. She hailed a taxi and driven to her father's place. She knocked on the door and her brother, Clayton opened it.
