The heavy rain transformed into a softer pace when Julia stood in the middle of the courtyard, holding an umbrella high over her head. It came in waves, hitting the pavement beneath her heels. She carefully stepped forward, sniffing in the earthy smell. Julia never liked rain. It reminded her of a lot of bitter memories, especially the one that related to her twin brother's death.
"Hey, what are you doing out in the rain?!" A familiar voice shouted through the pitter-patters of the rain.
Noah was standing a few feet away, face pelted with rain, his sleeveless jersey sticking to his body like second skin. One hand shot up to remove damp golden hair from his squinting eyes when he jogged forward, his trainers hitting the watery pavement ruthlessly.
"I have to collect my copy of Great Expectations. Aren't you supposed to be practicing?" Julia's smile was pointed towards his face, eyes strictly held straight towards his honey-brown eyes since she could lose her sanity over his sweaty wet body.
"Aren't you supposed to be practicing as well? Also you've duties in the library, aren't you?"
"Library's this way and you're blocking it."
"I'll block it more," he grinned, shoving his damp head inside the umbrella, shaking his head deliberately so that the water sprinkled on her face dramatically.
"Noah. You're ruining my makeup."
He grinned, muscles of his face twitching wickedly and draped a hand over hers that had been grasping the umbrella.
"Now, you're making me late," Julia squinted.
"Tell me we'll grab a movie together today."
"No. I'm busy and tired."
"Yes. Movie marathon the whole night."
"You're not allowed to crash in my room, remember?" Julia wiggled her brows, reminding him of the event of her 11th birthday party when he and his lads tried to sneak cigarettes into her room and ended up getting caught.
"Then, you'll crash at mine."
Julia sighed and rubbed her forehead with one hand, laughing as he put his hand over hers to taunt her.
"I'll order caramel corn," he added.
"You just want to make me fat. Call me at 2. I'll be in the library."
