Chapter 20

Scully's POV

It's been 3 days since the night Mulder and I kissed, and I'm here in my office sitting and feeling like a teenager smiling because I can't stop thinking of it. I didn't know how long that kiss lasted but it was amazing. We didn't see each other after that because of our busy schedules. But tonight we are both available and we'll have dinner together in my place.

"Someone woke up on the good side of the bed today," Monica said, standing at the door her arms crossed near her chest.

"Monica!" I stood up and gave her a big hug. And she returned it by slapping my butt as I turned back to my sit.

"What's that for?" I asked.

"Spill it!" she commanded.

"What?"

"Oh come on Dana, I've known you since we were fetuses, a smile like what I saw when I got here is either you got promoted to be the director of the pediatric dept or it's because of a guy."

I just smiled at her. And her eyes got bigger and said " Oh my God! Look at you, you're like a teenager. Hahah. Okay, who's the poor guy?"

I squinted my eyes at her and said "Mulder"

Then her jaw dropped.

"We got to talk and we started again."

"So...so you two are a thing now?!"

I nodded.

"Oh my God! I am so happy for you Dana!" she said as she stood up and walked around my table and hugged me. "You deserve all this happiness, Dana. I am happy for you," she whispered.

Then someone was at the door.

"What are you happy for Monica?" Monica and I both looked and it was Diana, Diana Fowley.

Then our smiles changed into scowl.

And Monica said, "Nothing that concerns you."

Diana smirked.

"Okay..." I broke the tension between the two lionesses. "What brought you here, Diana?"

"Have you heard the news?" she said coming in with arms crossed.

I have no idea what she was talking about and she continued "You and I are up for being the next director of our department."

My eyes grew wide and I couldn't believe what I was hearing "Are you serious?"

"Yes. I wouldn't waste my time going here if I am not," she said sarcastically.

And Monica rolled her eyes.

"Okay, I have to go now my patient is waiting for me. May the best doctor win? Bye Monica." and then she left.

"Bye Monica." Monica mocking Diana. "Ugh! I hate that woman! And why she's also working here? There are other hospitals where she flashes her award-winning fake smile. And she is a pedia doc too. Ugh!"

I chuckled and said "Come on Monica this is not high school anymore and she is a great doctor. We don't tall as long as it stays that way then it's good."

"Yeah she is a great doctor no wonder a lot of patients requested for you to be their physician and not her," she said sarcastically.

I just chuckled and shook my hair.

"Anyway, I came here because I have news for you," she said excitedly.

"Oh, good, two news in less than 30 minutes. What is it?" I asked as I prepared my things to see my patient.

Monica showed me her left hand and my eyes widened and held her hand near my face.

"John proposed!" Monica said happily and teary-eyed.

"Oh my God!" I hugged her. "I am so happy for you Monica! When?"

"That night when we went out for dinner. I didn't expect it!"

"Awww and you thought he didn't care."

"I know I am so terrible!"

"Oh Monica I am happy for you." I hugged her again.

"Thank you, Dana. Are you available tonight? John and I want to celebrate our engagement with you." Monica asked.

"Oh wow that's great Mon, I would love to, but Mulder and I will have dinner tonight." then I thought something. "Wait, we'll have dinner the four of us! How's that?"

"That's a great idea, Dana! Okay, it'll be like our reunion too," she said. "Where did you two planned to have dinner?"

"Well in my apartment but we could go to a restaurant."

"You know what, let's have dinner in your apartment. John and I wanted our celebration would be just us friends. And your apartment is great." she said grinning.

I smiled and said, "Okay then."

Then it was 7 in the evening and Mulder was already in my apartment. He was playing with Aira while I was setting the table. I will cook food and Monica and John will bring the wine and cake.

While I put the roasted chicken on the table, I stopped and looked at Aira and Mulder. They were happily playing with Aira's dolls. She was the princess in trouble and Mulder was the prince ready to rescue her. As I was looking at them I couldn't help thinking what if Aira needs a father? Brad never played with her dolls before. And she never looked for her dad since our divorce. I was still watching them until Mulder looked at me and smiled. And went back to playing with Aira.

And then the doorbell rang. And it was Monica and John. I let them in and when they saw Mulder, they were so happy and hugged him.

"Hey man, what's up?" said John as he hugged Mulder.

And Mulder said as they let go "I'm good man. Congrats on your engagement."

John thanked Mulder. And we all went to the kitchen. While were eating we caught up and then talked to Aira. It was a happy night. And Seeing all my friends with me was just like the old times.

Mulder raised his glass and said, "To the future Mr. and Mrs. Doggett."

Then we raised our glass too and John said "And to Fox and Dana, Monica and I were so happy that you two got together again. You belong together. Cheers!"

And with all the smiles we cheered and laughed when Aira raised her glass of milk and said cheers.

Sigh... I would never wish for anything more. I am so glad to be with the people I love. I just hope it will always be like this. No more drama.

Author's POV

Meanwhile, in a luxurious apartment, Diana sat on her chair on the balcony looking at a picture while drinking champagne. It was a picture of Mulder and Scully kissing in Scully's apartment in the hallway. She hired someone to track all of Scully's moves.

And then she said "Well look what we have here. The two weirdos are back together, huh? Brad will not like this but I am happy to show this to him" She smirked.
