Chapter 26

Mulder's POV

Aira and I arrived at the hospital and went straight to the operating room. Monica, John, and Scully's family were all there.

Aira ran to her grandma and hugged her and just as soon as Bill Jr. saw me, he stood up looking furious, grabbed my collar so tight, and pinned me to the wall.

"Why am I not surprised that my little sister is in great danger again?!" he said and he was red with anger. "We should've stayed in London for good! And this will never happen!"

Melissa touched her big brother's hand and said "Bill please this is not the time for that."

Bill let go of my collar. He went back sitting beside his father who was also angry at me.

Melissa smiled sadly at me.

I sat beside John. I covered my face with both of my hands and thinking of Scully.

I can't bear it if I lose her. I love her with all my life and I just got her back. The happy moments with her came flashing in my mind, her smile, her kiss, and the first night we spent together.

Scully, please fight.

Then soft, little hands took my hands away from my face. She was smiling at me and said "Mommy will be okay, she is strong. Don't cry, daddy."

Then just like that, though I rarely cry, tears ran down my face and I hugged her so tight.

Moments later, the doctor came out from the operating room. He said that they took the bullet out of Scully's stomach. But she lost a lot of blood. She needed a blood donor and Melissa didn't think twice to donate her blood to her little sister.

After long excruciating hours, Scully was transferred to the ICU. Her family stayed for a while and then they left with Aira. John and Monica also left.

I was the one who stayed.

I sat beside her bed and held her hand. Kissed it and said "I love you. I love you so much, Scully. I want to spend the rest of my life with you. So please wake up and come back to me."

Then a nurse came and said that I had to leave. And I did.

Scully's POV

I woke up and saw all my family with me. My sweet daughter hugged and kissed me and I also hugged her so tight.

Then "Where is Mulder?" I asked.

My family looked at each other. Then my big brother said, "Dana, listen he is not good for you."

Melissa was about to protest but I stopped her and said "You don't get to tell me what's good or bad for me Bill. I am not a teenager anymore, for heaven's sake. What happened to me was not Mulder's fault. I just met people that I thought would never kill someone because of jealousy."

"But because of him you are always in danger, Dana," he said.

"But I am not in danger anymore. Mulder saved my daughter, Bill he risked his own life to save a daughter that's not his. He loves Aira like his own. And Aira loves him so much, more than her father. And...I love him more than anything."

With that, they all went silent.

Then my father said "If that's what you feel, Dana...then so be it"

I smiled and Dad hugged me "Thank you, dad!"

He continued "Bill, I know you just look after your sister and you are a great brother. I think it's time to let your sister live the life she wants and love the man she wants to love."

Bill let out a big sigh and said "But if he will get you in danger again, I swear..." he didn't get to finish talking because Melissa inserted.

"Oh Bill we get it! Just let the old Dana love Spooky." then she winked at me.

We laughed.

Then Mulder entered the room. Mom signaled my family to leave us alone. When they left, Mulder sat down on a chair beside my bed.

"Hi," he said.

"Hello," I said.

He just looked at me and seconds later he kissed me passionately and I kissed him back. Then he put his forehead into mine.

"I miss you," he said.

"I miss you too," I said.

"I love you," he said.

I chuckled then I said, "I love you too."

We stayed in that position for a while.

"I thought I'd lost you again," he said sadly.

"I will never leave you again, Mulder. I promise."

Then he smiled and then shocked me when he kneeled on one knee, grabbed a box from his pocket, and said "Good because I will never let you leave me. Will you marry me, Dana Katherine Scully?"

My eyes were in tears and I said "Yes!"
