Diya's POV
" Chhoti, main meeting k liyee late ho jaungi. Jaldi karo, Mai tumhe school Mai chhor deti hoon. (Chhoti, I will be late for my meeting. Come quick. I will leave you at school)." I said to my crazy cousin.
" Hogyi Dee, buss aarahi Hoon. Tum niklo, main buss ayi. (Almost done, Dee, I am just coming. You go out, I will catch you.) She replied to me. I shook my head. If I go late there today my job will surely be gone. I will be fired. I came out and was waiting for Aradhya.
" Dee." She came a while later.
" Door ko thik sai lock kiya hai na tumne? (Have you locked the door properly)?" I asked her.
" Haan Dee. No worries." She said and tugged herself with me.(Yes, Dee)
" Agar aaj Main late huyi na, to samjho meri nokri gyi.(If I am late today, my job is gone.) I said.
" Nahi jayegi." (You won't get fired) she said.
" Or yesa kio?(And why is that?) I asked her.
" Cause, tumhari boss." (Cause, your boss) she said.
" Unko Kya hua?" (What's with him?) I asked her.
" Tumhe sach Mai nahi paata or tumhe abhi taak samajh nahi ayi?" (You really don't know or you didn't realize that till now?) She asked me.
" Kya?"( What?) I asked her.
" Woh tumhe nokri sai nahi nikalega, kabhi bhi nahi, na aaj na agee Jake kabhi." (He won't fire you, not now not ever) she said.
" Tumhe kaise paata?" (How do you know?) I asked her.
" Mujhe buss paata hai." (I just know that) She said.
" Wohi to main pooch rahi hoon kaisy?" (Exactly, that's what I am asking you, how?) I asked her.
" Buss paata hai." (Just know that) she said.
" Ok, Meri maa, maat bol. Tujhe to kuch bhi pooch na bekar hai. Khamaka waqt barbaad." I said.(ok, don't tell. No use of asking you but wasting time.)
" Agar maine saach mai bol diya to to mujhe jutay parenge abhi." (If I tell you this now I will be beaten) she said and I looked at her narrowing eyes.
" Kya paak rahi hai dimaagh main, haan?" (What's in your brain?) I asked her.
" Kuch bhi to nahi."(Nothing at all). She said smiling innocently. I narrowed my eyes more. Then shook my head.
" Dee, meri bus agyi. Tum office chali jao, Mai school bus Mai hi chali jaungi." (Dee, my bus has arrived. You go to office. I will go school by school bus.) She said and I smiled. I hugged her and she ran to the bus. I was walking away then she called me.
" Dee?" She called me and I turned.
" Tum pooch rahe thay na k kio tumhari boss tumhe nokri sai nahi nikalega?" (You were asking that why your boss won't fire you?) She asked me and I nodded. She waited for a second and when she heard the bus was starting she smirked at me and I get confused at her attitude.
" Cause, Dee, he loves you." She shouted her lungs out and I was shocked. When I got back my senses the bus was already leaving.
" Chhoti!!" I gritted and found people around looking at me weirdly.
May be trying to understand who loves me!! I sighed and quickly left the place. Luckily I didn't miss the bus today. I reached the stoppage in just time.
" Chhoti bhi na kuch bhi baktay rehti hai. Dimaagh ki lassi bana diya!!!" (Chhoti, keeps blubbering rubbish all the time, messed my brain totally). I said to myself. But I was happy that I was in time today.
Suddenly I saw an old lady was sitting on the ground and her belongings were around her along with her spectacles. She was struggling to find it out. I ran to her and helped her. I helped her to stand up.
" Thank you, dear. God bless you." The lady said. She reminded me of may grandma. I miss you, Dadi(Grandma).
" Where are you going, ma'am? I can leave you there." I said to her and she smiled. She said she was going to the restaurant at the end of the road. I nodded that I recognized the place. I hold her belongings and walked with her.
" You don't look native, dear." She said.
" No, ma'am. I am an Indian. I work here." I said smilingly.
" Oh, that's nice. What's your name, Sweetheart?" She asked.
" My name is Diya, ma'am. Diya Goenka." I said to her.
" Nice name. I bet it has a beautiful meaning." She said smilingly.
" It's means light or you can say a source of light like lantern." I said smilingly.
" See, I was right. Beautiful name for a beautiful girl like you." She said and I smiled.
" Thanks, ma'am." I said.
" You can call me Elizabeth." She said. " Not the Queen Elizabeth. But I am just Elizabeth Benard." She chuckled. I smiled.
" Ok, I will call you Elizabeth then." I said.
" Or you can call me Liz. Everyone calls me that here." She said and we reached the restaurant. It's name was Liz's Dine. I looked at her shocked.
" It's my restaurant." She said and smiled. I smiled at her back.
" That's great, Liz." I said.
" If you ever think you need my help or you feel alone, you can come to me. Here's my card. Keep it to you and just call me if you need my help." She said and I smiled.
" Sure. I will definitely do it." I said.
" It was very nice to meet you. It really was. You're very nice girl. I like you so much." She said and I smiled.
" Thanks, Liz." I said.
" You're welcome, dear." She said. " Diya." She said. I nodded.
" Though I wanted to talk to you more but you know if I be late then my boss will fire me at once. I need to go. Bye Liz. Talk to you another time." I said to her.
" Sure. Go. I don't want you to get fired." She said. " Bye. Take care." She said and I ran to my office.
" Hay Rama, aaj bacha lena apni nadan Diya ko." (Oh, Lord Rama, please save your poor child Diya today) I said to myself. I was late. Hell!!! I was damn late. I kept running. Why does this always happens to me!! Why!!! Why Just with me!??
