I Believed

Smoking hurts more than you think.

Don't do it.

You said you would

only smoke one

cigarette.

You promised,

I believed.

You said you would

never let yourself

get addicted;

you wouldn't want to do that.

I believed.

You said you didn't even

like the cigarettes;

I didn't think

that you liked something

even stronger.

I believed.

You started

smoking pot,

telling me it was

just a party

thing.

I believed.

Were you

partying by yourself?

It became an

everyday thing.

You promised you

would quit.

I believed.

Six months later,

you're still high

everyday.

I believe that

my best friend is

still in there, somewhere.

If you would only

put it out.
