Chapter 43 : The Unexpected

It had been three days since Sanskar took Swara in the funfair and then to the hospital... but unfortunately, things hadn't gone as smoothly as Sanskar had thought. In no way he had expected that Kavita would come across Swara and blurt out all that nonsense to her to bring her down.

Regardless, soon enough the results of Swara's final exams came out and they were enough for them to get over what happened with Kavita. The results were just as she wanted -- she had successfully passed her final exams with distinction. Something that had been her dream since day one. But along with that, she was on the top of the cloud that she had managed to fulfill the purpose and legacy of her late Nanu, the one who dreamt of this day for his granddaughter.

It was Swara's double graduation ceremony today in Mumbai. Swara was super excited as after officially getting her degree today, she would be known as an orthopedic. As expected, Sanskar had made sure to accompany her for her big day along with her Maa and Dida. The ceremony went very well and Swara was finally rewarded with her degree certificate, her personalized memento and a beautiful bouquet of flowers in the honor of becoming a post-graduate. When she was called on the stage, Sanskar, Sharmishtha and Shobha immediately rose up from the chairs to cheer for her with the loudest sounds of claps. Swara beamed and bowed before the chancellor while receiving her degree and other gifts. She took a moment to turn towards the three most beloved people of her life in the audience. She flashed them a broad smile while showing her degree to them, gesturing that she considered her sole reason behind her standing here today. Sanskar, too, flashed her a smile along with two thumbs up, telling her that he was super proud of his love as she had finally managed to achieve her goal.

And from here... started another phase of their journey. The dreams they had seen all these years together were ready to come true. And this time, they were together.

After Swara's graduation ceremony was over, all four of them were back in Kolkata. Soon, the process of having Swara join the Kolkata hospital finally began. It added much to the happiness of her and Sanskar as soon they would be working together like before. Though Ramprasad was ready to have her join without a prior interview as he already knew her capabilities as a doctor and she deserved to work in the hospital, it was Swara who requested for a proper screening as she wanted to be treated equally just like any other employee who qualified the interview and earned their place in the hospital because of their hard work and performance. It was Swara's point of view that her being the future daughter in law of the Maheshwari family should not be influencing any decision related to the hospital, which Ramprasad really appreciated. Soon enough, she qualified the interview and was finally appointed as a full-time orthopedist in the hospital. And since she was a specialist this time, she got her own out patient department where she would consult her patients. Her duty would begin as early as 8 am up to evening.

Onto the new beginnings
A couple of days later...

"Okay mom, I'm leaving now," Sanskar announced while walking briskly towards the living room," Bye! See you in the evening!" he grabbed his bag and was all set to leave but Sujata rushed outside the kitchen just in time to stop him.

"Sanskar, wait! Why are you rushing so much? You have not even eaten your paratha yet," she pointed out towards his unfinished paratha resting on his plate. Sanskar turned towards her and gave a convincing look.

"Mom, please. I'm full already. Also, I'm getting late," he stated and turned to leave but this time, it was Laksh who decided to interfere.

"Arey? Late kaha hai tu, bhai?" he asked, "Doesn't your duty start at 9 am? Look, it's 8 am now. And it does not take you more than ten minutes to reach the hospital," he pointed out towards the clock.
