Lokis dream is his memory of Frigga's death scene from Thor: TDW (in which he was there, instead of Thor and Odin).
Loki's Pov
"No, please don't hurt her! I beg you! Please!" Loki begged as his mother was held against the evil Malekith's chest, a dagger to her back.
He watched as the man performed the deed and his mother's now lifeless body fell to the Asgard ground he once called safe. He kneeled, trembling as he held her body in his arms, his dark hair hanging over her pale face as his tears fell on her cheeks.
"No..no..no..please..no..
NO!" Loki awoke with tears falling down his face, one after the other, never stopping. He couldn't breathe as the dream replayed in his mind. Frigga laying lifeless in his arms. She had been an amazing mother. She'd cared for him as her own son and helped him when times were tough. He'd cared for his father at one time, but that emotion faded as he grew. But Frigga,.. she had always been there. She'd given him his powers and this act gave him strength. She helped him in ways no one else could. And now she was dead because of him.
He squeezed his eyes shut to block out the memories playing before his eyes, but he couldn't escape them. He pushed his damp sheets off his body as he felt sweat rolling down his forehead.
"God! Why couldn't I have just saved her?! I could've saved her and then she'd still be alive!" His volume had increased from a whisper to a shout and had woken Thor who could hear him on the other side of the wall. The god of thunder got out of bed and made his way into the hall before coming to listen at Loki's door. He could hear the Jotun sobbing into his pillow, unable to catch his breath as his sweaty locks stuck to his forehead. He didn't know why Loki was in such pain, but he was going to make it okay again. No matter what. He opened his brothers door; surprisingly it was unlocked. Walking into the dark room, he could vaguely make out Loki's smaller figure. He proceeded over to the bed and kneeled by it, cautiously placing his hand on Loki's back, starting to brush circles and patterns into his skin. Loki noticed the hand immediately and froze, looking to see who it was out of the corner of his eye.
"It's just me, Loki." Thor reassured with a soft smile as the other god relaxed at knowing who was in his room.
"Okay." He whispered as he turned his face back into the pillow as Thor continued his actions. Thor knew he shouldn't push his brother into telling him what happened, so he just waited until Loki's cries turned to sniffles before asking,
"Do you wanna talk about it, brother? It's okay if you don't, I understand."
Loki didn't. Not now at least. But he was enjoying the feeling of Thor's hand rubbing his back and he didn't want his older brother to leave.
"No. I can't yet." He could feel Thor adjust his position of kneeling on the floor until he felt the bed dip behind him, his face still pressed into his pillow. His brother continued the patterns on Loki's back and Loki sighed into the touch. It felt nice to have physical contact with someone, even if it was his brother who he'd fought so many times. Being the God of Mischief didn't get you many hugs. Loki was starting to cramp from being in the same position for so long, so he adjusted until he was sitting with his back against the headboard. He looked at Thor and scooted over, patting the area next to him so that he wouldn't have to kneel on the floor anymore. After Thor moved to the bed, Loki sighed.
"Thank you brother. For everything. I don't deserve your help after everything I've done to you and the rest of the world."
Thor was saddened at the words that came out of his brothers mouth.
"That's not true brother. I've done terrible things too and you're a better person now. You've changed for the better and I'm proud of you. I really am." Thor grasped Loki's hand in his and Loki was surprised Thor felt this way about him at all. He leaned over and gave Thor a one-armed hug, as the other man returned it.
"Thank you, Thor." He whispered into his brothers ear as he felt the god of thunder nod against his shoulder.
"Of course, Loki." Loki waited a few moments before backing away from the hug and he could feel his eyes getting misty.
"Thor?"
"Yes brother?"
"I had...my dream was...it was about Mom. I was there and I couldn't save her like all those years ago. I felt like I was reliving it." Loki told his brother as a tear fell down his face. Thor reached up and wiped it away, looking into his brothers eyes.
"I'm sorry that you had to relive it brother. But she's with us." He placed his hand on Loki's chest. "In here." Loki looked down at Thor's hand, then back up into his eyes. A look of pain could be seen on Loki's face and he nodded, lips shut tight in a frown.
"Yeah, she is." Thor smiled softly at Loki. "I'll always be here for you brother."
"Thank you, Thor." The god nodded and patted his brother on the shoulder, standing up and walking to the door.
"Goodnight, Loki."
"Goodnight, Thor." He smiled softly as Thor left the room and he snuggled back into bed, free of any more nightmares.
