I went down to the second floor and quickly made my way to the files room where the secretary is.
Once I was inside, I cut to the chase. "Hey, so Park Jimin's files haven't been updated. Do you know anything about that?"
"What do you mean? What's wrong with it?"
"I'm saying that I don't see any record of what method of treatment was used on my patient. Have you even viewed it after Dr. Kim gave it back to you? Don't you transfer the written information to the online files?"
"I-I don't know..."
"He was admitted here at just seven years old." I remembered his room that was decorated well enough it barely looked like a mental patient's room. That's a lot of time spent being here that it begins to look like a home. "He's been here for ten years, has he even had any treatment?" The nurse looked at me in fear, not knowing what to say. "Has Dr. Kim neglected to properly treat the patient all these years?" I said, more to myself. "I want you to call her and ask questions," I demanded, and the nurse didn't move a muscle, probably since it's in her head that I know she hasn't been doing her job and I could get her fired for it. "Now," I hissed through gritted teeth. God, just do something you're told for once. She quickly went to look for Dr.Kim's contact and began dialing. I stepped outside to leave her alone to talk so she wouldn't feel intimidated by my presence and leaned my back on the wall just by the door.
I stared blankly in front of me, just waiting for the call to end. I felt a slap on my shoulder, and I jumped a little.
"You look so dead I almost mistook you for another patient," Hoseok joked, joining me and leaning on the wall.
"I'm just not in the mood." Hoseok looked up at the sign above my head reading 'File Room,' and seemed to understand why.
"You asked, huh. Aaaand she's on a phone call with Dr. Kim, I presume," Hoseok said, craning his neck to peep into the room.
"Yeah. I just don't get why anything wasn't written down. It's almost as blank as a new patient's file. I've never seen anyone be this neglectful. She's a doctor for God's sake! I mean, what if he hasn't been treated for all the years he's been admitted here?" And as if God heard my question, the nurse called me in. I motioned my head to tell Hoseok to follow.
"So?" I asked, crossing my arms.
"She said he was allergic to the antipsychotics, but just forgot to write it down."
'Just forgot to write it down' my ass.
"And the method of treatment after finding out he can't use the drugs?"
"It sounded like she didn't use any."
"She what?" I fucking knew it. "So you're telling me, for ten years, he hasn't been treated for his delusions?"
"He's allergic to the drugs-" I cut her off before she could finish. You already said that he was fucking allergic to the drugs I don't need to hear your voice even more than I need to.
"Then someone should've tried a different approach rather than doing nothing to help him! He's been living in this hospital for practically his whole life, not being able to tell his imaginations from reality. And just because medicine didn't work, he was given up on?!Shouldn't you both be fired for this?! Are his guardians aware that they've been paying for ten years worth of medical bills to a hospital that hasn't even been helping the child they sent in?!"
"We thought Dr. Kim was handling it, we didn't know-"
"Well she didn't handle shit, did she? She was probably still on the case just for the money. Not helping him in any way because she didn't want to even try. He was probably just her paid break, and moved hospitals because she found a place that would pay her even more to do the same thing to her next, helpless victim. And you could've stopped it if you had carefully reviewed the files as you transferred them." Hoseok put a hand on my shoulder in attempt to calm me down.
It wasn't working.
"I should report you for this. Because you haven't been doing your job properly to catch the mistake, you cost a kid more than half his life when he could've been out there leading a better one out there. You better report Dr. Kim as well before she does the same thing over there." Tears welled up in her eyes, but I don't give two fucks about her. What she and Dr. Kim did only kept a boy imprisoned. How long would this have gone on for if I hadn't caught this?

Hoseok and I went out to eat at Panda Express after a very long shift. We also live together in a pretty wide apartment, driving to and from work together in our shared car. We've known each other since elementary school. We went to the same high school and university, and we were each other's only friend. Our grades were way above our classmates in school and it left us as outcasts. We didn't fit in with other students because they felt we made them look stupid. But it only made us have a close bond that got stronger each year. We were and are always there for each other since we're all we have. I couldn't ask for a better best friend.
"We're nineteen and we still haven't lost our virginity, let alone been on a date," Hoseok said, earning a couple stares.
"Be any louder, could you?" I scolded him sarcastically. He was right though. We were so involved in our studies and way younger than everyone in our classes that we never got the chance to date anyone.
"But you're bisexual so you have more odds than me. You get to have both genders." Hoseok rested his head on his hand as he felt he'd never get a girlfriend and get married.
"Why don't you just put yourself out there? I mean you're outgoing so it should be easy for you."
"What do you mean?"
"You could go to a club and just flirt with someone. Anyone. But if even you are too much of a pussy to do that, you could just online date." I shrugged, running out of options to give him.
"I could try online dating, I guess. It's just that it's so...weird because you're going on a date with someone you only like for their looks and they know that because they like you for the same reason."
"The date is a compliment within itself, wow," I said, taking in Hoseok's rant. He sighed heavily and closed his box of left overs.
"I'm full, Hyung. Wanna head out?" I nodded my head and closed the box of my own leftovers before throwing everything else away. I followed Hoseok out to our car, letting him drive us back so I could take a nap.

At the bottom of the stairs of our apartment was a white cat with black and brown spots on its head and back.
"Wow! Look at her! She's so beautiful!" Hoseok sat at the stairs, eyeing her beautiful coat of fur. "Hi, kitty," he said to the young cat who was hesitant in letting Hoseok get closer. But nevertheless, he let his hand slowly reach her until it rested on the top of her head. Gently, but cautiously petting her, the calico cat started nuzzling her head against the palm of his hand. "Look! She likes me." He continued to pet her as I made my way upstairs to go prepare for sleep. "Ah, Hyung wait for me!" Fast footsteps climbed up the stairs, and Hoseok made sure to lock the door behind him.
"That cat might come up here because she likes you," I mentioned out loud to Hoseok from the bathroom as I undressed myself.
"You think so? Can I let her in if she does?"
"Do whatever makes you happy, Hobi."
"Got it. Thanks, Hyung!"
I ran the water, testing it with my hands to see if it warmed up. Once it did, I set it to the perfect temperature and began squirting shampoo into my hands and lathering it onto my head. Like always, I made sure to scrub it into my scalp so I don't feel like I brought the vibes from the hospital into my home, and let it run down the drain.
But one thing from the hospital I did bring in was the random flashes of Park Jimin in my mind.
