Chapter 29

Meghan was a nice person mixed with some evil.

Maybe thats why we worked well.

I knew from the minute in high school when she poured bleach in a girls milkshake she was out to kill.

Yet she was sweet, loyal and protective. I feel like I could trust her around my kids.

Kai is 2 months today. No longer needs his mom and can stay with me. Zain and Meghan have met a few times now as shes around some nights when he stays with me.

"So a whole two kids." Meghan says looking at me. She smiled at Kai who was just waking up. "So obviously... how do you even hold a baby?" She asks and I chuckle. She stares at Kai as she holds him in her arms.

"Hes so beautiful. What is it about babies and peacefulness."

"Oh no peacefulness tonight." I chuckle. "Eh look, I need to go to the bathroom." She says handing me Kai.

"Zain- what do you have in your mouth?" I say putting Kai in his little bed. "Yo- spit it out." I hold Zain strugglinh to open his mouth. "Oh for Gods sake- why?" I say taking the piece of paper out of his mouth. He starts crying and I put him down. "Whats up?"

He stops crying as I kiss him and hug him.

"Hey look- I have to go. Mona called. Sounded like an emergency." Meghan says.

"Bye honey." She says kneeling down kissing Zain's cheek. I get up and look at her. He seemed to warm up to her. Maybe because she gave him chocolate all day. "You straight?"

"Yeah." She says kissing my lips. "Call you later."

Meghan rushes out and I dont think twice of it really. I make myself and Zain dinner and mash his up a little before feeding Kai and putting them both to bed.

I get in the shower putting my phone down to see a box peaking out of my trash. I pick it up and see its a pregnancy test.

Am I... Ever going to catch a break. I look for the stick but cant find it.

"Fuck." I say sighing. I just got a new born. Here we go again? Meghan?

"Are you pregnant?" I say as soon as Meghan answers. She stays silent for a bit before answering. "Yes. It gets worse. I'm like 4 months pregnant Nick. I didnt even know. I conceived when we first slept together when I came to you... I swear no throwing up- nothing! I thought my periods gone but pretty normal with the birth control im on."

"You're on birth control?"

"I completely forgot because there was no point since I hated him..."

"For fuck sake Meghan I just had a child..." I say. "You think I asked for this? With you?"

"Eh. What's that supposed to mean?"

"Okay... look youre not the most consistent guy and I know one day you're back with your ex."

"I'm promising you now I wouldn't do that to you."

"You have kids with her-"

"And now I do with you too."

"The stick said 16 weeks Nick. I think I'm going to faint."

"Fuck-" I say. "Let me call you back." I say sitting down. "Fuck fuck fuck fuck..." I look at Kai sleeping peacefully and check on Zain. I call Mason and tell him to come see me.

"Whats the stich?" Mason says sitting down. "You good?"

"Eh- Meghans 4 months pregnant and only realised a few days ago because her belly was no longer flat."
