It was too good a deal to pass up. Sure some folks can go on and on about the horrors of immorality, but I seriously think they are calling sour grapes on the whole package. I never had any real family or friends so I won't regret out living them, I get to see the eras change and witness history in the making, I never wanted to grow old anyway, and best of all I get to spend eternity with a sexy undead chick. So of course I said yes when she asked if I wanted to be a vampire.

The minute she yanked her fangs out, something strange happened. Her mouth was a mess of ripped flesh and blood and I felt an intense pain in my neck as if something was burrowing into my skin. A few moments later, she was dead and I was a vampire.

Actually no, I wasn't a vampire, it was the vampire. The creature inside my face. Every day it eats away at my body, causing me to turn pale, lose weight, and have my eyes go bloodshot. I was weak and sensitive to all heat, even sunlight was a problem. The only thing that pacified the monster was drinking fresh blood, which turns out to only be more and more of a fading cure as it grows more and more ravenous.

Now it wants a new body, it's done sucking the marrow out of my frail skeleton. Overall I learned an important lesson out of this.

Vampires are immortal, but their hosts are not.
