Once again, you pull the blanket over your head and pray for sleep to come save you from whatever is in your room. Whatever it is, it can’t get you if you are under your blanket. It just stands there, either in the corner of your room or at the end of your bed. It can’t hurt you under your blanket. There is something about blankets; it is the ocean surrounding Alcatraz. It is a prisoner, you are the mainland, the blanket the uncrossable ocean.

So it just stands there, watching you. Freaking you out. Waiting for you to wake up and leave. Why? This thing did not come all this way just to give up at a blanket.

It slips into your bed while you are away. It lays under your blanket, waiting for night to come again. And when you get scared and once again hide under your blanket, it will be under there with you.

Where there is no escape.
