One morning as I was sitting at home in my condo, I heard a knock at the door. “I’ll get it daddy!” my daughter called, I could hear her racing down from upstairs to get the door. My wife was away on business so it was just me and Luna for the weekend. Luna was only six and didn’t understand why her mom had to be away so often, but she had always accepted it. That is, until recently. She has started to become angry. Lashing out at others for no reason, sometimes she looks at me with such hate in her eyes, it’s as though she blames me for her mother being away. I was wrenched from my thoughts as she called “Daddy! Mommy, she came home!” that can’t be right, jenny wasn’t due home until Tuesday… I stood and walked to the door. It was closed. Luna wasn’t there either, “Luna? Luna where are you?” I called, the lights flickered and turned off. Luna didn’t answer. I was getting worried, I called out again “Luna, this isn’t funny! Come out here this instant!” I heard a scream, “Daddy! Daddy help me!” opened a kitchen drawer, ripped a knife free, and charged up the stairs. I could hear Luna weeping, still calling for me. I burst through the door to my room where the crying was coming from and vomited all over the floor. My wife hung from the chandelier above our bed, her skin hanging down and her organs strewn about the floor, her face was the only part of her left untouched, her expression of pure terror evidence of her murder. The door behind me slammed and I whipped around to see… Luna. Oh god! She was holding her mother’s heart in one hand, and a knife in the other. She looked at me with an expression of what could only be described as insanity. She began to laugh and looked up at me with a crazed grin on her face, “do you like my art daddy? I told mommy that she had to come home right away, that it was an emergency! Then I asked her why she had to leave. She told me to put the knife down. That wasn’t a real reason.” So after she answered the door, she gagged her own mother and killed her. How was a six year old child even capable of this?

“Please Luna, I’m begging you, stop this.”

“I can’t daddy. You can’t leave me too. I won’t let you, it’s time for bed now. Goodnight daddy, I love you.”

The police found my body a week later. Nobody ever found out that it was my own child that murdered me and my wife. They were all fooled by the same thing that fooled us, the sweet, caring smile of a sociopath.
